Re:Haydn
Compilation released 02-10-2009 on Deutsche Grammophon.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his death, Joseph Haydn receives a remix treatment from 12 Austrian and international musicians reflecting the diversity and excellence of contemporary, electronic music.

The compilation once again impressively shows: techno has become a self-conscious art idiom which, as a technique, is also highly suitable for artistic examinations of classics in serious music.

What Carl Craig and Moritz von Oswald demonstrated most impressively on the third part of the 'Re:Composed' series, and the recent compilation 'Reflections On Classical Music' offered in terms of stylistic range, Re:Haydn now continues with a contentual emphasis.

The twelve Haydn reinterpretations featured on the album put a lighter spin on their classsical inspirations however - from Ed Banger artist Krazy Baldhead's dramatic opening track to Dorian Concept's laid-back conclusion 'Re:Haydn' preserves its pop and dance floor appeal throughout, very much in the spirit of the great composer himself, who famously turned often simplistic melodies into epic masterpieces.
