sonig sonig
Founded in 1997 sonig is a label tugging at the borders between digital (dsp) & analogue technology, electro-acoustic experimentation and improvisation, promoting dissent and differentiation. It aims at conceptual and organizational stratagems which can provide both a creative outlet and an accessible forum for discussion, a space in which new terms for music can be located. The artists at sonig play to their own standards, complexities, dynamics and non-linearities. There are countless musical styles and schools, there is a heavy tradition in music: all waiting to be deciphered and reconstructed by our collective efforts. Sonig stands for an extended reconsideration of what pop music has always promised but never fulfilled: individuality and nonconformity, abstract machines against trivial images.

Jo Zimmermann returns with a new album of his quirky electronic music explorations. 'Vorausschauende Bebauung' treats us two eight songs that combine naive pop melodies, krautrock experimentation and even a few vocals this time around. Idiosyncratic as always and definitely recommended.

Lemniscate 14 (Track 14 on this Album) was reviewed:
Based on the concepts of visual artist Jorinde Voigt, Patric Catani and Chris Irmler have devised 16 compositions in the circular and mathematical fashion of Voigt's drawings. Minimalistic abstraction meets beat science.
