Turbo Recordings Turbo Recordings
Turbo Recordings was founded by Tiga in Montreal back in 1998. In addition to launching his own career, the label has been integral in the success of acts like Chromeo, Proxy, and most recently, Azari & III. Core talent also includes ZZT (Tiga's collaboration with Zombie Nation), Jesper Dahlbäck, Jori Hulkkonen, Duke Dumont, Brodinski, Boys Noize, Sei A, Crowdpleaser, Clouds and a host of new young producers in genres ranging from pure techno, electro, and house to pop. The list of artists who have released music on the label is a veritable 'who's who' of top-level talent spanning a broad musical range, and this, along with a commitment to beautiful design, has earned the label respect in the industry and a cult following among fans.

The second of Evgeny Pozharnov's two-part debut album strikes as tough as the first, a grim urban vision enacted with jump-up seething electro razor-synths and roving stylistically across late-dubstep, neo-electro, acid and euro-techno. Perhaps rebellion for the Boys Noize generation, a couple of alright tracks here.

Berlin-based Finns Renaissance Man drop their latest via Tiga's Turbo imprint, this time taking their versatile production style firmly into the direction of grungy, analogue electro and broken techno. The rough edges become 'Call2Call' extremely well and the EP should be prove a hit between The Hague and Bristol.

Russian producer Proxy presents the first part of his debut album, the raw rave energy of his idols the Prodigy apparent. His production talent nimbly flitting between breakcore, drum'n'bass, the noisiest sawtooth dubstep with ethnics twists. If you still live with your parents, this one will definitely rile them.

Tiga's Turbo Recordings has certainly let its taste expand and ripen in recent years, this new compilation marks this fresh direction of low-slung darker techno sounds with Locked Groove, Nautiluss, Sei A and Gingy & Bordello, electroid wickedry not forgotten. Turbo's new era clearly showing promise. Smashing.

Another confident showing by Sei A, who mixes Terrence-Fixmer-style Berghain techno with dubstep elements and chiptune bleeps. Add a pumping, rumbling Martyn remix for a highly recommended package.
