Tectonic Tectonic
Founded in 2005 by DJ Pinch, Tectonic has quickly established itself as one of the leading dubstep labels with releases from artists like Loefah, Skream or Distance. Tectonic went on to become one of the first labels to embrace the fusion of dubstep and Detroit techno, signing major artists representing the booming style, such as 2562, Martyn or Peverelist.

Despite dubstep's inception into the commerical mainstream, Tectonic has never struggled with the follies of its ugly younger brother. Their fourth compilation showcases bassweight cuts to footwork rhythmic finery, introverted explorations and plain sick tunes from Jakes, Distal, Pursuit Grooves and more.

Following releases on Blunted Robots and 50 Weapons, Dark Sky debut on Tectonic, delivering two techno-dubstep bangers: 'Confunktion' contrasts a long ambient breakdown with a jacking, bassline-heavy techno swing, while 'Double U' is a more classic, twitchy dubstep cut. Recommended.

UK producer Beneath (of recent No Symbols fame) arrives on Tectonic with two techno-infused bangers: 'Duty' rides a rumbling bass wave with stomping beats and twisted soundscapes, while 'Texers' menacing stabs and oddly enticing synth-line rest atop its punching snares and bass drums. Mean.

Roska follows up his contribution to this year's 'Tectonic Plates' with a solo single on Pinch's label. 'Blurry' is pure percussive minimalism with an Afro-dub edge, 'Spearhead' steps up the intensity with a pounding beat and grinding modulations. DJ fodder.

Atlanta's Distal is one of the few US artists that have earned their place among the UK's bass music elite. His hotly anticipated debut full-length drops via Pinch's Tectonic imprint, and covering diverse (post-)dubstep and ghetto house styles over the course of its 13 tracks it's a powerhouse of an album.

Das Album selbst ist auf der Tectonicrecordings Site ziemlich treffend beschrieben: "Removed from the pressure of the dancefloor, Author takes the baton from Kruder & Dorfmeister’s ‘K&D Sessions’, The Cinematic Orchestra and timeless Mowax recordings in exploring more spacious arrangements and sounds."

Photek drops in for his debut on Tectonic with 'Closer', the label's 50th release and truly something special: a brooding, dubstep-rooted, modern-day take on a style reminiscent of his most classic d'n'b recordings. Pinch on the flip delivers with his stepping remix. More to come from these two legends!

Tectonic boss Pinch collaborates with fellow UK heavyweights Loefah and Roska respectively for this latest single. 'Broken' is a broody stepper with a spine-chilling bassline and Loefah's epic beats while the Roska cut has his conga rolls working killer over the dusky, dread-soaked atmosphere. Top release.

Illum Sphere lands on Tectonic with a bang: 'Dreamstealin' could be a piece of grain-synthesised neo-classical music, if it wasn't for the junglistic dubstep beats that convert to hip-hop breaks after the break. Backed by the wonky 'Blood Music' and an Indigo remix. Unique and recommended!
