Between 1999 and 2003 Strut was one of the UK's leading record labels dedicated to unearthing the lost gems of dance music past, covering music from hard funk, underground disco, original breaks and Nigerian Afrobeat to old skool hip hop and forgotten music library classics. In 2008 Strut was reactivated and is now part of the !K7 label group.

Ghanaian high-life legend Ebo Taylor returns for a brand new studio album recorded with Berlin-based Afrobeat Academy band and guest such as Tony Allen. Crossing afrobeat, high-life and rootsy funk, Ebo still has the groove, and provides genuinely touching moments with stripped-down vocal-and-guitar pieces. Recommended.

Part of Strut's long-running 'Music For Dancefloors' series, putting out hard-to-find gems from high quality film, TV and library music. This unmissable reissue is practically a goldmine of the UK's KPM library of funk with bonus live tracks and has been sampled by the likes of Jay-Z, DOOM and Madlib.

Whether as an introduction to one of the last two decades' most important house labels or as a reminder of how impressively Green Velvet reestablished Chicago as the word's house music capital, 'Only 4 U' is an essential comp that will have you hunting for some of the rarer dubs and versions not included here. Must have.

Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, The Souljazz Orchestra mixes up Soul, Jazz, Afro, Latin and Caribbean rhythms in a highly convincing fashion. 'Solidarity' is their fifth album - their 2nd for Strut - and features plenty of great vocal collaborations and sun-drenched percussive grooves. Excellent.

Second installment of Strut's ongoing exploration of Factory Records' legendary output of forward thinking dance music. Factory mainstays such as The Durutti Column and Section 25 do feature, but the most pleasure is derived from relative obscure discoveries: Minny Pops, 52nd Street, Shark Vegas to name but a few. Essential history.
