Soma Soma
The leading Scottish techno and house label with over 400 releases under its belt, Soma is run by DJs and producers Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle, better known as Slam. It's been seven years since Alex Under's debut album of bouncing minimal techno appeared, this second album via Glasgow's Soma proves itself an altogether more experimental affair. Apart from dropping a few bpm, hazy crackly textures and pensive electronics masterfully roam ambient and avant dub-techno territories.

Having long reached legendary status, the inimitable trio unleashes an album on Glasgow's Soma. Their past few releases decisively drone and ambient, they get down to some heads-down, raw, sharp-shooting techno. Splintered noise, beastly beats, visceral flexes of high-grade hypnotic TBD quality. Excellent.

Silicone Soul's 'Right On, Right On' is destined to be a hit in the open air party season, with five of Ibiza's finest regulars supplying remixes: M.A.N.D.Y., Ramon Tapia, Fergie, and, our favourites, Nick Curly with a somewhat restrained house take and ex-Underworlder Darren Emerson adding a Detroitish touch.

On his promising debut release for the seminal Soma recordings, Perth's Joe Stawarz delivers 'Cry', an unashamedly epic soaring synth melody held together with a subtle bassdrum and hazy washes. Decimal bulks it up for the dancefloor with a kicking remix and 'Bird Whale' grooves with a warm elegance. Impressive.
