SD Records SD Records
With its sublime output of dubbed-out analogue electro, the Rotterdam-based SD Records label has achieved underground cult status in comparatively little time. Mysterious main outfit Syncom Data (hence the labels initials) has been responsible for most its releases so far, with remixes coming from high-class acts like Aux 88, Speedy J or Legowelt and former Unit Moebius member Duracel recently adding a classic The-Hague-style electro album to the label's catalogue.

Three very different classy tracks from Rotterdam's Louis Guillaume: 'On the Grid' is a nervous freestyle jam of fidgety drums and police siren LFOs, 'Private Escorts' is a mad Chi-style stomper built for dance-floor damage, and 'Way Out' is a subtly swinging dubtech shaker. Pick one or all!

Following on from his recent 'Salmiak' LP, Mark du Mosch appears with an edit of 'Sanctuary' and 'Loss' and more interestingly perhaps, a pumping Syncom Data remix of 'Cold Sweat'. Functional dancefloor fodder for sure.

Holland's fearsome foursome including Bunker Records' Guy Tavares and the intergalactic I-f make a timely reappearance in 2013 with their brutal, UR-indebted industrial techno. Beastly beats, whomping doom-filled bass with no hiss or sweat spared in the production of these tracks - visceral, raw and so good.

Holland's Mark du Mosch, six years since his first release, appears with his debut long-player on Syncom Data's label. Familiar techno and house territory, yet he imbues a tingly dark Detroit heritage, twists of dreamy italo and cosmic atmospherics in a heartfelt and wholly cohesive way. Recommended.

Kreidler's Detlef Weinrich follows up his fantastic Tolouse Low Trax album from last year with this EP for SD Records. On its four tracks he continues to explore the retro-futuristic 'Cabaret Voltaire meets techno' motives of 'Mask Talk' with a slightly more urgent and industrial edge. Excellent release.
