Plus 8 Plus 8
Founded in 1991 by John Acquaviva and Richie Hawtin in Windsor, Canada, Plus 8 Records quickly became one of the most influential North-American techno imprints with a string of landmark releases. Speedy J, Kenny Larkin contributed early techno classics to Plus 8, as did Hawtin and Acquaviva under guises such as F.U.S.E., Cybersonik, or Final Exposure. In 1998 Hawtin founded his new label Minus, followed by a time of reduced output on Plus 8, but with a new roster of artists like Mike Shannon, Paco Osuna, and Marco Carola, the legendary label has once again developed a strong, independent profile over the past few years.

Barcelona's techno stalwart Paco Osuna takes it to Plus 8 this time around with a new release. Cut-up vocals and nicely edited breaks add individuality to the EP's four functional and percussive techno tracks. Recommended DJ tools.

Barcelona's #1 techno DJ, Paco Osuna, teams up with four 'amigos' for this EP on Plus 8: Daniel Sanchez, Alex Under, Joseph Capriati, and Alexi Delano. Four expertly crafted techno tracks, subtly percussive in the style of Osuna's fabled sets.

Spaz (Track 01 on this Maxi-Single) was reviewed:
Plastikmann aka Richie Hawtin's 'Spaz' continued to push the new wave of Detroit music. As well as a string of hits, under his numerous monikers and label Plus 8. So when this record hit the needle in 1994, it was a flurrying wall of continuous snares and hi-hats. A seven minute lock-down of the senses with its fluctuating industrial tones and pitching sounds-capes. A must have for all Richie Hawtin fans and those a like.

Paco Osuna is one of the most prominent DJs in Spain, and rightfully so, as anyone who's seen him play can attest. He's been for years associated with Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 camp, and 'Crazy' is one of his fine releases for the label: functional, beatdriven minimal techno. Classic DJ tool.

Niederflur return to Plus 8 under their Datasoul guise. 'Digital Disorder' and 'PanScan' are two nicely reduced techno tracks with echoing arpeggiated chords, while 'Hexabug' and 'Yellow Knives' add a housey flavour to the mix. Yet another spot-on release for Richie Hawtin's legendary imprint.
