Permanent Vacation Permanent Vacation
If you think the only place for high quality contemporary disco is Scandinavia, you must have been asleep for a while. The German city of Munich (Germany's former disco capital) brought up a hot new label with a hand for forgotten gems and top league productions: Permanent Vacation. From the 1980s Belgian new-wave group Antena to Kathy Diamond, all releases show the love for music that targets the dance floor without neglecting the need for songs and melodies. More fabulous people have already contributed songs, albums and remix works to this still young label definitely to be checked out like Joakim, Todd Terje, Ilya Santana or the balearic/leftfield/disco star Lexx. Permanent Vacation is also the home the musical output of the two label owners Tom Bioly and Benji Fröhlich.

California-based Woolfy and Projections further their collaborative efforts since 2008's 'Astral Projections' LP. The sensual Balearic vibe of the original gets taken for a spin thrice, by Swiss legend Lexx warmly revamping it, El_Txef_A sveltely tweaking and preening and The Drifter who nonchalantly grants it heady dancefloor pep.

Four years after 'The Astral Projections Of Starlight' Woolfy vs. Projections release their sophomore album, but while the 'The Return of Love's polished disco-funk is rendered confidently enough, it is an album that doesn't quite hit its stride until its more nocturnal and daring last third ('Set Me Loose', 'The Passage'). Check.

The Pollyester duo brilliantly fused krautrock, disco and funk into a unique weird pop album in 2011's 'Earthly Powers'. Now Munich's Permanent Vacation treat two of its tracks to deep funking dancefloor ready, Prins Thomas, Permanent Vacation, Pional, Baris K and digital bonus Rory Phillips. Schmooth.
