One of the longest running European labels for electronic music, Music Man started out in 1989 during the heyday of the Belgian New Beat style. Many of its early releases came from New Beat and techno pioneer Frank De Wulf, whose releases as Modular Expansion became early hits for the label, as did 'Pullover' by
Speedy J and Meng Syndicate's 'Sonar System' in 1990. With a broad and inclusive approach Music Man's main man Stefaan Vandenberghe (a.k.a. Dr. Lektroluv) has since guided the label through the ebbs and tides of the electronic music business, and while Music Man might never have gained the distinct musical profile of some of its peers, its high profile after almost 20 years of operation is alone a testament of its success. Prominent artists recording for the label today include
Robert Hood,
Green Velvet,
Steve Rachmad,
Redshape and
Deetron.
