In 2006 techno and ambient pioneer Luke Slater launched his own label, Mote Evolver. Besides Mr. Slater himself and his Planetary Assault Systems and L.B. Dub Corp projects, the label's artist roster includes some of the finest artists in the field of dark, cavernous techno, such as Samuli Kemppi, Marcel Fengler and Lucy.

Following on from excellent Parallel Series 1 with ASC and Luke Slater as L.B. Dub Corp, this second split release sees Shifted (Avian/Mote-Evolver) and Finland's Samuli Kemppi explore further dark techno territories. Shifted utterly stripped and effective and Kemppi knocking minute melodic details. Killer release!

Two producers from Techno's top tier, Marcel Dettman (Ostgut Ton) and Chris Liebing (CLR), take on Planetary Assault System aka Luke Slater's 'Function 4'. Dettman goes straight for the gut with his signature throbbing bass sound in contrast to Chris Liebing's comparably more upbeat groove.

Sweden's H.Productions head appears for the second time on Luke Slater's revered Mote Evolver imprint. The title track is darkly hypnotic though imbued with a light shuffly groove, 'Ana Kata' kicks with brasher percussion and melodic slivers whilst 'Octave Mundi' breathes powerfully in strong techno moves. Ace.

More astounding intergalactic techno-shenanigans in the second volume of the 'Deep Heet' series. Taking techno back to its primal roots, 'Suktion' does just that in a punishing whirlwind vortex, 'Powwow' spirals over kicking entrancing motifs and 'Raid' is a menacing stealthy slow-burner. Surrender is the only option...

Luke Slater's Mote Evolver label releases the first EP of anonymous artist Shifted: Four tracks of austere and cavernous techno that should make this a must for fans of Dettmann, Regis, as well as the Prologue and Stroboscopic Artefacts labels' releases. Solid.

Phras, 1 year ago via zero-inch.com
Another strong release for Finland's Samuli Kemppi on Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver imprint. The title track broods dark tones and a sinister shuffle, whilst 'Complex Numbers' lashes out with punishing rhythmic patterns. Includes a mean claustrophobic dub edit by Planetary Assault Systems.

James Ruskin, Function & Jerome Sydenham step up to the plate to remix Luke Slater's most recent techno monster, 'GT'. Ruskin slurs the track's characteristic cowbells for a highly effective, minimalistic stomper, while Funtion and Sydenham deliver a slightly more classic techno take.
