Monkeytown Records Monkeytown Records
As major record companies continue to lose their monopolized stronghold on the music industry, it's refreshing to witness the birth of new, much more cohesive, artist driven/founded labels. In keeping with this growing trend is Berlin's Monkeytown Records. Founded by 'the two guys' from Modeselektor, Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, Monkeytown is a platform for artists of electro, and was established to support the scene and its talent during the international financial crisis. Painter, Graphic artist, and up and coming producer of electro, Siriusmo, is Monkeytown's first artist, and his promising debut on the label, 'The Uninvited Guest' bodes well for all involved with this new musical enterprise.

The Lazer Sword duo of Low Limit and Lando Kal land on Modeselektor's Monkeytown Records, with an album in the pipeline for 2012. 'Sounds Sane' deliriously clatters synths with beastly energies, UK-flavoured bass 'n vox whilst 'Klock' is an eerily swinging r'n'b/UKG stepper. Damn fine!

An epic collaboration between Berlin's Modeselektor duo and Thom Yorke sees this video release of 'Shipwreck' taken from their recent 'Monkeytown' album - its light jungle-abstracted beat and eerie chords working killer under Yorke's vocals with exclusive track 'Dull Hull's brash junkyard beats a fitting epilogue.
