Mirau Musik Mirau Musik
Hamburg based house and disco label Mirau Musik was started in 2005 and named after the 'kind and amazingly tolerant' downstairs neighbour of the founders' first home studio. Mirau has been duly noted for its charming selection of music since, which ranges from electronic disco pop by Good Guy Mikesh and Arp Aubert to house productions by Iron Curtis. The music of increasingly prominent artists like Tensnake and Mano Le Tough further sits comfortably between these poles.

In a month not short on excellent club-ready releases it was the wealth and quality of experimental electronica recordings that surprised us most. From Mouse on Mars' bastardly bass music mutations over the jazzy timbres of Nicolas Jaar's 'Don't Break My Love' more...

After a bunch of excellent singles German producer Erdbeerschnitzel drops his debut album via Mirau Musik. 'Tender Leaf' impresses with an even wider variety of styles than his trademark brand of deep grooving disco house, incorporating traces of jazz, dubstep and downbeat in a thoroughly modern way. Stunning!

Johannes Paluka, better known as Iron Curtis dishes out his debut album on Tensnake's Mirau imprint, his low-slung, Detroit and Chicago house flavours teasingly laid out. Deep house winners throughout with twists from haunting vocals of 'Closer' to blearier synths of 'Horses' and deeper funkin' 'To The Lv'. Recommended.

Since bowling us over recently with his 'Basement Dubs EP', Bucharest's Aeromaschine drops another brilliant EP on Hamburg's Mirau Musik. Two tracks of deep and fresh house, his quirk and imagination taking it that extra mile, Innervisions' Marcus Worgull on a fine remix too. Hugely recommended!

Co-owned by current high flyer Tensnake, Mirau is hands-down one of our favourite labels at the moment. Danish superstars Kasper Bjørke & Tomas Barfod contribute some surprisingly hard-hitting slammers on their 'Superbacon EP'. Serious hit material throughout.
