Mille Plateaux Mille Plateaux
Named after Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari's eponymous book, Mille Plateaux was originally founded by Force Inc's Achim Szepanski in 1993 and quickly became Germany's most influential label for experimental electronic music. In 2004 Mille Plateaux became insolvent due to the collapse of Germany's largest independent distributor EFA, and after a short-lived attempt to revive the label in 2006, Mille Plateaux is now in the hands of Marcus Gabler, who is bringing back the label in 2010 with new artists and a new edition of the label's famous 'Clicks & Cuts' series.

The heavily-distorted sounds of 'Latatan' may have been a bold decision to introduce the debut full-length from Yu Miyashita on Mille Plateaux, but as a statement it might read something like 'this is my sound, take it or leave it!' Twisted and construed noise permeates throughout this electrifying, if not stupefying debut.

On the relaunch of the highly influential experimental electronic music label, Mille Plateaux, Tokyo's Ametsub sees his brilliant debut album repackaged and re-released that was originally only available in his home country. 2006's 'Linear Cryptics' features a meticulously composed blend of hip-hop, IDM, and neo-classical elements.

Taken from his 2009 album, 'The Nothings Of The North' (re-released worldwide by Mille Plateaux), Japanese electronic music artist Ametsub's Repeatedly receives a sublime and emotional reinterpretation by Type Records' Helios. A brilliantly executed video accompanies Ametsub's original composition.

Mille Plateaux aspires to return to former glory under new ownership with 'Clicks & Cuts 5.0 - Paradigm Shift', which features mainly young rising artists such as Ametsub and Aoki Takamasa. Their tracks hold up surprisingly well, adding modern dub elements to the IDM formula. Recommended.
