Elektro Guzzi, Marcel Dettmann, Sepalcure, Surkin
If you are based on the planet's northern hemisphere like we are, chances are you're either looking for a melancholic soundtrack to the greyness outside or some cheerful music to counter its adverse effects right now.
Either way, this month's releases more...
Manuel Tur can do it all - piano hits ('Most of this Moment'), disco-house ('Foolin') - yet 'About To Fall' might be his most accomplished single all year, a deep and hypnotically grooving piece that balances soulfulness and sonic abstraction. Excellent release.
This label is featured in Update #070:
Modeselektor, Roman Flügel, Four Tet, Joakim
Modeselektor are back! After four years spent with Moderat and setting up their own label the Berlin pranksters return with their eagerly awaited third album, 'Monkeytown'. Don't just stop reading there however, as September was ripe with many more fantastic more...
The Essen-based imprint releases this compilation, with tracks from their three founders Manuel Tur, DPlay and Langenberg alongside labelmates Tim Toh, Ribn, Blakkat and Festland and appearances by Steve Bug and Marcus Worgull. Deep, dubby, sensuous, melodic - honey to your ears throughout!
This label is featured in Update #057:
20 Years Of Planet E, Freude Am Tanzen 5zig, Echocord
Detroit's techno pioneers combined dancefloor appeal, emotionality and sophistication in their music - a fusion of elements that is still shaping some of the finest music out there.
Nowhere does this become more apparent than in the history of Carl Craig's more...
Essen house meets Essen avant-pop when Manuel Tur and Markus Worgull remix Festland. Tur applies diverse trippy vocal filters and pitch effects to 'Welt Verbrennt's original vocals, while Worgull opts for a prime time chord-driven club hit approach. Nice.
One of the co-founders of Mild Pitch, Langenberg returns with another EP on the label since 2009's 'Times'. Delving deeper and dubbier, 'Planitz Proposal' is lush and sturdy, 'Tribute' swirls melancholic icey synths and 'Dog Days' is a drum sculpted hip-shaking groover. As ever, Langenberg's delivery is immaculate!

Florian Schirmacher: "Perhaps it's the unpredictability of collaborations that makes me enjoy working with other artists. Ribn drop a very slow track here, which I like a lot, while their 'KMD' on Ovum is a different beast entirely."
This label is featured in Feature #096:
Wareika, Federleicht, Hatikvah and Here Today are just some of the projects of Hamburg's busy house music vocalist, producer and DJ, Florian Schirmacher. The passionate collaborator has been further working with artists like Märtini Brös and Mathias Kaden for more...
Tangabucht
(Track 03 on this Maxi-Single)
After releases on Running Back and Drumpoet Community, DPlay is back with another burner for Mild Pitch. 'Samoah' is an epic 10min grower that nails it with a hypnotic feel and sparse but effective instrumentation, while the secret weapon is 'Südseestrasse' with its great Chez Damier-style chord stabs. Hit!
