Metroplex Metroplex
Quite possibly the most influential label in the history of techno music, Detroit's legendary Metroplex imprint was founded in 1985 by Juan Atkins, mainly to release his own music under his Model 500 guise. Other artists that have appeared on Metroplex during its prime include Eddie 'Flashin' Fowlkes and Anthony 'Shake' Shakir. For the second half of the 90s A&R duties were taken over by Mad Mike of UR, who took the label's direction back to its electro roots. Bar two new Model 500 outings and various re-issues, the label has been dormant since the turn of the century.
