M-Plant M-Plant
Visionary techno producer and strong advocate of minimalism, Robert Hood, founded M-Plant to support the evolution of this bare and stylish form of electro. A firm believer that minimalism has transcended the genre of techno and become its own style of music, Hood likens it to an art form and is quick to scoff at the suggestion that minimal is just a passing trend. Says Hood, 'where I'm at right now is embracing minimalism and seeing how far I can push it - in my interpretation of what simplicity and the music is all about. I am really representing it as an art form and not a trend. As the future evolves, we're going to get more and more minimal.' If these words are anything to go by, expect the best 'Detroit' minimal to come out on M-Plant.

Robert Hood in his Floorplan guise dishes out two new cuts, 'Altered Ego' cutting any superfluous sonics and brutally hitting the jacking core, hypnotising syncopation under classic Hood keys. 'Confess' juxtaposes gospel piano and pounding techno, thus solving that eternal Sunday church or Panoramabar dilemma.

Two more deadly killer cuts from the don of minimal techno Robert Hood. Once again essential, funked-up, banging techno which shouldn't be missed by anyone under any circumstances. Do we hear some UK funky styles there on 'Clash'? Huge recommendation.

After recent reissues on Rush Hour, Robert Hood resurrects his Floorplan project for two brand-new tracks. 'Living It Up' is a peak-time disco sample mutation, 'Wall To Wall' takes it a notch deeper. Killer!

The Pace (Track 01 on this Maxi-Single) was reviewed:
Sandwell District: "Classic, timeless Rob Hood. Originally released in 1996, and it still sounds as fresh as it ever has. Both tracks. I always loved how right in the middle of 'The Pace' he mixes out the main line and brings in his signature, 'Movable Parts', SH-101 line. Legend."
