Innervisions Innervisions
Dixon and Âme's label, inspired by the club-night 'Innercity', Innervisions has been a major influence on the current revival of deep house, combining the genre's classic grooves with the hypnotic production- and arrangement techniques learned from contemporary techno. The label originally started out as a division of Sonar Kollektiv, but has an become independent enterprise in 2006.

Taken from Osunlade's latest LP, 'Pyrography', on their own Yoruba Records, 'Envisions' gets licensed to Innervisions for a set of remixes by Âme and Dixon. Being careful not to tinker too much with the original's winning formula, Âme and Dixon amplify the mood to prime it further for the big room.

Two quite different tracks by Innervision artist Marcus Worgull: 'Long Way' is almost a pop song with its strummed guitars and elegiac vocals, 'Coppa' on the other hand is a piece of arpeggiated, hypnotic house music, reminding us of Worgull's label colleagues Âme.

This distinct release on Innervisions sees Âme hook up with the global ambassadors of South African music, Amampondo. Across two versions of 'Ku Kanjani' Âme's hypnotic brand of techno meets Amampondo's characteristic Xhosa chants. Post-modern world music, impeccably executed.

Spiralling analogue synths and long, peaking arrangements are Lil Tony's trademark, and 'Anton's Groove' is a prime example of his style. Split in two parts totalling over 17 minutes it's a truly hypnotic journey, while the EP's eponymous 'Nudge' is a more reflective wild pitch affair. Unique and recommended.

Half Château Flight, half Âme, Tête is the team-up of I:Cube and Frank Wiedemann, offering us the type of atmospheric, arpeggiated techno-house both groups are famous for. Both 'Rotor' and 'Zuckerzeit' combine experimental sound design with trancey melodies and epic arrangements for maximum dancefloor impact.

Junggesellenmaschine (Track 02 on this EP) was reviewed:
Âme have always put quality before quantity and their only single release this year, 'Rrose Sélavy'', was yet another testament to the duo's greatness. 'Junggesellenmaschine's electro-acoustic percussions were held together by a strong melodic back-bone for one of this year's finest dance-floor anthems.

South-African producer Culoe De Song debuted on Innervisions in 2009 and now follows up his remarkable success with his 'Webaba EP'. Two emotional and introspective tracks that fuse deep house with elements of African percussion and vocals. Recommended.
