Hyperdub Hyperdub
The London-based imprint foremost responsible for breaking dubstep to a mainstream audience, Hyperdub was started by Steve Goodman, better known as Kode9, first as an internet blog and in 2004 as a record label. Artists contributing to Hyperdub soon included Kevin Martin a.k.a. The Bug and Burial, whose 2006 self-titled debut album and its follow-up 'Untrue' became two of the most successful productions for the label and the dubstep genre as a whole, with 'Untrue' netting Burial a Mercury Prize nomination in 2008. Hyperdub meanwhile continues its mission to innovate the subbass driven 2-Step style, providing a platform for exciting new artists, most recently people like Cooly G, Ikonika, Joker and Zomby.

Setting a new standard for the remix album high, Hyperdub impeccably select reworks of King Midas Sound's 2009 'Waiting For You' - Kuedo, Cooly G, Kode 9, Hype Williams excelling, with more wayward appearances from Scritti Politti's Green Gartside, Ras G, Gang Gang Dance, T++ and Joel Ford. Epic.

With a hotly anticipated album due on Hyperdub early next year, London's Cooly G's unveils two collaborations, firstly with Simbad in a dreamy vocal-led synth-wash slow burner 'Landscapes'. 'It's Serious' on the flip with Baltimore legend Karizma is the killer though, mighty soft-sculpted advanced tribal beats. Bam!

Based off tracks from King Midas Sound's 2009 LP on Hyperdub, 'Waiting For You', its better late than never for this superb remix 12". Kuedo leads off with his slow-churning interpretation of 'Goodbye Girl, while Mala recreates 'Earth Will Kill Ya' into a DMZ-sized bomb.

Following up 'Tarantula/Creepy Crawlies' on Lightworks, Ossie steps up at Hyperdub bringing his slick, grooving take on UK funky to the fore. 'Set The Tone' is a bona fide vibing summer anthem, 'The Power Of Love' and 'Moves' stunningly simple, deep and sexy, executed with an ultra-calm finesse - winners!
