According to legend, Ann Arbor's Ghostly International label was created in 1999 by Sam Valenti IV in his dorm room at the University of Michigan. Starting out with releases by Tadd Mullinix (aka Dabrye, James T. Cotton) and the electro-compilation 'Tangent 2002: Disco Nouveau', Ghostly has since become one of America's premier channels for a wide range of forward-thinking music, from abstract electronics to avant-pop. Home to artists such as Matthew Dear, Deastro, and Lusine, Ghostly celebrates a diversity of styles that run the electronic gamut. Ghostly also has a prominent sister-label focusing on the straighter techno side of things: Spectral Sound. a

Shigeto returns to Ghostly with this mini-LP. On 'Lineage' Shigeto extracts elements of jazz, funk, and soul, elegantly composing a collage of organic sounds and ideas and displaying a proficiency in his art across eight sophisticated instrumental tracks. Stunning.

Aeroc aka Geoff White has been quiet since 2004's 'Viscous solid', now his second full length appears on Ghostly International, somehow suiting his delicate introverted style. Startlingly pretty guitar-led electronic fusions, balancing nimble and dreamy like To Rococo Rot and Mouse and Mars.

Ghostly International presents a beautiful album by Polish musician Michal Jacaszek, whose 'Glimmer' draws from classical music, folk and ambient. 'Glimmer' is a melancholic and magical album to get lost in and a must for fans of Dakota Suite or Peter Broderick. Recommended.

After releasing his debut LP on Ghostly in 2010, Minnesota-born Mux Mool found himself stuck in a productivity funk. A friend issued a challenge to him to produce one track per day for a week, previously resulting in the first 'Drum EP'. This latest beat-making challenge yielded his funky, summery 'Drum EP 2'.
