Force Inc. Music Works was founded in September 1991 by Achim Szepanski in Frankfurt, Germany, and quickly became one of the most prolific and influential electronic music labels, pioneering styles like acid techno and early jungle. Force Inc spawned various sub-labels such as Force Tracks and the genre defining electronica imprint Mille Plateaux. In 2004 however the collapse of Germany's largest independent distributor EFA drove Force Inc into bankruptcy. The labels' assets and back catalogues eventually changed ownership, but only few new releases have seen the light of day since.
