Jan Jelinek continues his - aural and philosophical - sample explorations by constructing tracks from recorded snippets of publicly performed music. The result is a lovely collection of free-jazz and library music sounds with a touch of Farben's rhythmicity.

While we all continue to lose sleep over Ursula Bogner's authenticity, 'Sonne = Blackbox' soothes away the agonizing uncertainty with a selection of sweet fey tape ditties and beautifully meandering synth and voice experiments. Elegant, intriguing and a great listen either way.

Since resurrecting his much-loved Farben project late last year, Jan Jelinek's totem pole presents some new offerings. Lush analogue plops of 'LesssseN' with lively micro-bounce, 'Xango' twisting darkly, 'Parada' a humid tropical dream and 'Eroten…' like a forgotten ditty from the BBC Radiophonic workshop. Brill!

Jan Jelinek's latest project on his own Faitiche label is a collaboration with Japanese vibraphonist Masayoshi Fujita. 'Bird, Lake, Objects' contrasts Jelineks sound-trackish synthesizer experiments with the airy sounds of Fujita's prepared vibraphone. Sometimes gentle, sometimes harsh, at all times griping.
