LA's Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker follows up his recent release on All City with his first for London's Eglo Records. 'Analogous' a chirpy boogielicious web of synths with an itchy hip-wiggling bass, 'Grandfather Fire' is a blurrier peaced-out version of that vibe, 'I Feel It...' oozes a lazy tropical sway. Lovely release.

Releasing virtually exclusively on Eglo Records, Floating Points has gained attention from a worldwide audience for his distinctive and wholly unique blend on house, downtempo, and freeform jazz. Alix Perez steps into his Arp.101 guise for this fresh offering of neon-coloured downbeat experiments. Title track 'Flush' contrasts a dubstep rhythm with arpeggiated chiptune sounds, 'Korg-A-Tron' has a massive bass gel together a stumbling groove, and 'Ac!d' introduces electro-funk stabs atop a wobbly bassline. Fresh.

Introducing varied doses of experimentalism with a traditional sense of all things groovy, West London's FunkinEven hits the mark hard with his second release for Eglo Records. 'Heart Pound' cranks up a syrupy acid bassline, while rave stabs on 'Another Space' keep the energy going.

Arp.101 might fool you into taking him for a newcomer, when in fact it's yet another distinct project by prolific producer Alix Perez a.k.a. Alter:Native. Already receiving much support on Rinse.fm, 'Dead Leaf' is great slo-mo funk and RnB grooves with an electro twist. Recommended.

Firmly rooted in electro-funk, with fierce acid lines and sloppy beats added in good measure, 'She's Acid' is a killer release by up and coming Funkineven, released via Floating Point's Eglo label. 'We must move', he commands, and we're happy to oblige. Bomb.

Eglo Records have put together an EP of cool as hell future funk tracks by Fatima that makes us want to believe the good old R'n'B and Hip Hop times of the nineties have never left us. Produced by Dam-Funk, Funkineven and Veebeeo this release is a statement that listening to modern Soul doesn't have to be uncool in 2010.
