The Munich based electronic music label Disko B was founded in 1991 by Peter Wacha (a.k.a. Upstart) as the dance department of his independent label Sub Up Records. With releases of producers like
Hell,
Richard Bartz (a.k.a.
Acid Scout) or DAF's
Robert Görl, Disko B established itself as one of the top techno labels worldwide. The Vienna-Munich-connection with
Cheap Records lead to the release of the scandalous
Porno album by
Patrick Pulsinger or
Susanne Brokesch's experimental ambient milestone '
Sharing The Sunhat'. Disko B's expanded its roster with international artists like
I-F,
Jay Denham,
Blake Baxter, Unit Moebius or
Abe Duque (a.k.a.
Kirlian), who spread the sound of the Disko B family around the world with an enormous output of high quality electronic music. In recent times Upstart has carefully eluded predictability by expanding the label's musical horizon with more experimental productions by the likes of
Console.
