Delsin Records Delsin Records
Started in 1996 by Peel Seamus, Delsin has grown to be one Europe's most influential labels dedicated to preserving the heritage of the original sound of Detroit technosoul. Artists like CiM, Aardvarck, Newworldaquarium, D5, Yotoko and Dynarec have had their first releases on the label, with albums coming from Optic Nerve, Future Beat Alliance or $tinkworx. While Delsin has been covering many styles over the last decade - from deep electronica to deep house, abstract beats and electro - it is most commonly associated with the deep drifting techno represented by its new generation of artists like Quince, Taho, Vince Watson or Redshape.

Niels Luinenburg returns with an EP to complement last year's excellent 'Traces' LP. 'Sun Storm' excels in rawness, juggling 707 toms and claps around swirling cosmic radiation, a great Karenn (Blawan and Pariah) remix of 'Onkalo' is a stern-faced big room decimator, alongside an edit of 'Challenger'.

A true old-timer, his career spanning back to the early '90s and now on his eighth album, John Beltran remains consistent in his marvellous stylistic breadth and spine-tingling depth. Ambient yes, touches of live instrumentation, epic strings, wistful textures, sweet melodies leak over house and techno heritage.

Swedish technoist Bleak has stealthily dropped a series of singles over the past couple of years and now strikes Delsin for the first time. 'Sixteen Crude' is a feisty hard-nosed missile flexing noisy knocks amongst slow-rolling sweeps, 'Subject Target' floods eerie warmer spaciousness around its metallic techno core.

Dutchman Boris Bunnik is back with a new EP as Conforce and four helpings of sturdy dubby techno. 'Nomad' grazes sub-bass territories opening up percussive spaces above it, 'Receiver' builds with a slow and steady urgency, 'Last Anthem' strikes a little harder and 'Embrace' bathes in lush dub echoes.

One of Berlin's most prolific producers Mike Dehnert has to be admired for the quality standards he's been maintaining release after release. His latest 'Umgangston EP' for Delsin is no exception with four solid techno bangers, from the moodily swinging 'Andruck' to chord-driven slammer 'Refillable'.

A Terrence Dixon reissue from 1996 courtesy of Delsin; 'Midnight Hours' is a devilishly bristling fine chunk of old-school Detroit warehouse techno from the seminal 'Detroit: Beyond The Third Wave" compilation whilst 'Two Sides to Every Story' ups the imposing intensity. Miss this at your peril!

SIberian producer Unbroken Dub gets fresh on Delsin after a stream of releases on Berlin imprint Rawax. 'I Want To Make This Louder' slips grainy dub techno glaciers over a pumping kick, 'Det Special' sees smokier hazes scratch over distorted claps and 'Insane' ringing glass-bell signals into the stratosphere.
