Cocoon is probably the best known worldwide techno-brand being exported from Germany. It's components include not only the label, but also a fine club in Frankfurt, parties on Ibiza and a successful DJ booking agency. The conglomerate's boss, founder and centre of attraction is one of the most familiar DJs on the scene, Sven Väth. With an impressive career lasting for more than 25 years, he was one of the first creators of what would become the techno scene. He was also one of the first to construe the function of a DJ as not only playing records to people, but being an entertainer behind the decks, motivating the crowd. Cocoon the company has had a long involvement in creating the worldwide success of electronic dance music. Through their parties on Ibiza they brought the Cocoon sound to London, and through this they brought the UK closer to continental Europe. From 1998 until 2004, when the Cocoon club opened in Frankfurt, Cocoon DJs have had residencies all over Europe, from London to Madrid. The Cocoon label started 2000 with compilations and Ibiza DJ-mixes, but quickly went on to release original music produced by the Cocoon DJs. After the first LPs from Jacek Sienkiewicz and Frank Lorber the label really took off in 2006 by implementing a new rave sound for big and sweeping parties. Home-grown artists include Pig & Dan, Guy Gerber, David K and Loco Dice. In 2007 the already awe-inspiring list of featured talent was complemented by releases from other illustrious figures like Dominik Eulberg, Beroshima, Marcel Dettmann, Stephan Bodzin, and Legowelt. Their renowned "letter" compilations are currently up to 'H'.

Another big Cocoon mix compilation, this 'Green&Blue' edition has Steve Bug and Chris Tietjen mix 33 of their current faves in just under 2:30h. A who's who of tech-house, from James Kumo to Kink, from Kenny Larkin to Nikola Gala. Recommended.
