Cheap Records was founded by
Patrick Pulsinger and Erdem Tunakan in the early 90s and quickly became a hotbed for Vienna's techno scene with releases by
iO,
Sluts'n'Strings & 909 and international artists such as
Robert Hood or
Mika Vainio. During the 90s Cheap became known to pioneer the use of jazz influences in electronic music with releases by
B Recordings,
August Engkilde or the Showroom Recordings Series.
