Border Community Border Community
Founded by DJ and producer James Holden, Border Community has achieved tremendous success with its slightly hippiesque vision of melodic free-style techno. Among the label's prolific roster of artists are talents such as Nathan Fake, Fairmont, Lazy Fat People (Ripperton and Mirko Loko) and Extrawelt.

James Holden has quite literally gone wild with his latest single, aligning soaring synth arpeggios with a stumbling beat for a track that seems to channel the primal energy of shamanistic rituals on strange psychedelics. Beat and synth-only versions included for your remixing pleasure.

The opening track from Nathan Fake's recent album 'Steam Days‘ gets two choice remixes. The delicate electronic melancholia of the original gets dragged through a post-rave dusky haze by Lone, whilst Lukid rids the niceties of the original and wrangles it with raw beats. Top remixes, check.

Braindance poster boy Nathan Fake returns to Border Community with a 'Iceni Strings, a symphonic monster constructed from a snaking triplet bassline and AFX harmonies. 'Sense Head' and 'Bauxite Dream' are equally delirious with stumbling rhythms and surging synths. Trippy hippie techno deluxe.

'Steam Days' is Nathan Fake's third album and in the absence of Richard D. James and Boards of Canada from the current release circuit it upholds the sonic ideal of balancing experimental grooves with carefully constructed synth composition that glisten with melancholic pop drama. Recommended.

The title track of Kate Wax's debut album on Border Community was a prime slice of her haunting electronica, preened with eerie vocals and jittering arpeggios. Two fine remixes emerge - Ghostly's Solvent gives it a gritty rework and Margot imbue a gently tripping abstraction to the original.
