Blackest Ever Black Blackest Ever Black

Originally commissioned for the Johnny Mnemonic film and a Neuromancer audiobook, Black Rain's 'Soundtracks' combine cinematic breadth, industrial grit and a SP23-style proto-techno vibe for a fitting release on Blackest Ever Black. Intense.

Edinburgh-based Young Hunting debut on Blackest Ever Black, burning next-level effigies of the darkest industrial inspirations. 'Embers…' begins the EP with nightmarish venomous rhythms, 'A Hunger Artist' slopes with Kafka-like theatricality in unnerving perpetual mobility. Invigorating, not for the faint-hearted.

More of the darkest crafted sonics from UK duo Raime, on the highly regarded Blackest Ever Black. 'Told and Collapsed' conjuring spine-tingling atmospheres through fine-spun dubby industrial textures, 'You Will Lift…' reverberating sinister rhythms. Perfect alleviation from xmas overkill.

Seemingly alluding to the ongoing conflict in Syria, Karl O'Connor drops his first proper Regis release in a decade via London's Blackest Ever Black. 'Blood Witness' (also included in a live version with Mick 'Scorn' Harris) travels down a dark, percussive path, while 'Blinding Horses' introduces shifting drones as a central theme. Powerful stuff.

Blackest Ever Black returns with the resolutely sensual sound of Tropic of Cancer, the LA-based New Wave/Pop project by Camilla Lobo and Juan Mendez (Sandwell District's Silent Servant). With plenty of references to Joy Division and The Jesus & Mary Chain, 'The Sorrow Of Two Blooms' plunges deep into the abyss.

More dark stirrings from British duo Raime spanning a dusky terrain of occult atmospheres and dubbed out ethnic percussion. Regis extracts the primal techno core from their first EP's 'This Foundry', drawing out the eroded surfaces from the original's fragility - a crushing beast of a remix. Recommended.
