BPitch Control BPitch Control
The tricky spelling of its name has not stopped BPitch Control to establish itself as one of the top brands for European techno: Founded by superstar DJ and producer Ellen Allien in East Berlin more than a decade ago, the label started out with a constant stream of beautifully designed releases, bridging the gaps between Techno, electro, IDM and pop music. Ever since scoring its first chart hit - TokTok & Soffy O.'s 'Missy Queen's Gonna Die' - the label has consistently gone from strength to strength, managing to establish quite a few of its home-grown artists in the jet set league of electronic music: Modeselektor, Paul Kalkbrenner, Sascha Funke, and of course label wner Ellen Allien herself.

Ellen Allien releases a special edition of her most artistic endeavour yet, from a 2011 dance performance at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. Whilst meandering intricate textures span the initial 'tracks', the melodic techno pop beats of the sixth and eighth appear to evolve naturally out of an experimental context.

Stemming from a soundtrack of a 2011 dance performance at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, BPitch head Ellen Alllien has revived and reworked the piece, with a bit of help from Bruno Pronsato. Elegant experimentalism, theatrical soundscapes and evocative instrumentals. An impressive new side to Ms Allien!

Seattle-born and now Berlin-based Camea shimmies on over to BPitch after previously keeping to her own Clink Music imprint. Stripped electro echos of 'City Watch Over Me', warmly bouncing techno of 'Body Magnet' and melodic techno-pop of 'Only The Shadow Knows' fit perfectly at BPitch.

BPitch head Ellen Allien never seems to take a break and appears with new material from her upcoming album, this time co-produced by labelmates Skinnerbox. 'Take Me Out' is a pretty standard electro-pop affair, whereas 'Need' delights injecting house strings and quirky vox over unusually perky funky beats. Fun.

Telefon Tel Aviv appear with this fine EP, the hypnotic swirly effervescence of 'The Birds' and the intricate dramatism of 'The Sky Is Black' even features the Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie. BPitch label-head Ellen Allien preps 'Birds' for the dancefloor while Matthew Dear masterfully makes his intriguing atmospheric mark.
