Over almost a decade and 50+ releases, Areal has managed to carve a sound that is both unique and recognisable as it is versatile and unpredictable. The label was founded in October 2000 by Konfekt, Basteroid and Metope, and the label's major addition to its roster came with Ada, whose melodic, yet subtle techno releases proved hugely successful. But as with any great label, the B-sides are often as intriguing as the hits, and Areal's catalogue has plenty of off-beat gems to be discovered.
