German sound artist Stephan Mathieu uses classical gramophone records as the basis of his album for 12k, 'A Static Place'. Re-recording the sound off the original equipment and transforming it with his computer, the result is an inherently beautiful album of soft and gentle tones. Recommended.

Fourcolor is the solo project of Minamo's Keiichi Sugimoto, constructing warm and harmonic ambient compositions from fractured layers of guitars. Gently plucked, subtly glitched or processed into shimmering drones, Sugimoto elicits a wide range of warm sounds from his instrument. Beautiful.

Inspired by the harsh Norwegian weather and wild landscape, Pjusk recorded their second album 'Sval' in a cabin high up in the mountains. Reflecting the winter vibe they deliver an album with deep textures that stretch the horizon, wisps of ghostly vocals, and percolating beats trapped beneath thick layers of ice.
