Every month for a special price, our friends at MotorFM select the cream of the crop of current electronic music releases. This month's choice is Ellen Allien's 'Dust Remixes' .

Known as the queen of German techno, Ellen Allien released her fifth solo album 'Dust' in Spring 2010 to great acclaim. Bringing the pop and techno worlds closer together whilst maintaining only the highest standards, 'Dust' did this brilliantly, reinforced by her famed DJ-sets and of course the output of her label BPitch Control.

Whereas Nicolas Jaar's beautiful rework of 'Flashy Flashy' was released on an EP last year, the rest have been kept under wraps until now. Possibly the most highly anticipated remix album of this year, the choice of artists has clearly been made carefully with some of the year's hottest artists (John Roberts, Kassem Mosse, Munk), a few solid favourites (Aux 88, Bodycode) and some surprise guests (such as Tim Hecker) doing the honours.

Unsurprisingly, the quality is high and the results diverse - from Ripperton's opener with energetic African percussion and hypnotic fragments of the original, John Roberts' elegantly textured and fully grooving house rework to Aux 88's Black Tokyo blinding electro techno cut. Not to mention Leipzig's secret weapon Kassem Mosse bringing out a melodic trippy house mix and Tim Hecker's awe-inspiring ambient drones.

Further highlights come in the form of Bodycode's deep and delicious remix, Adultnapper's warm slo-mo house and a bubbly rework from BPitch's Italian duo We Love. There's no shortage of interesting results on the theme of remixing, which the eclectisism of this album proves. From beginning to end, a hugely enjoyable insight into some of the most cutting-edge electronic music today.

Compilation released 18-03-2011 on BPitch Control
Ellen Allien's 'Dust' remixes is probably the most star-studded set of remixes you'll encounter this year and impresses in both its diversity and quality. Highlights come from firm zero" favourites Nicolas Jaar, John Roberts, Kassem Mosse and Bodycode, not to mention Aux 88, We Love and Tim Hecker. Bravo!
