A major city located in Germany's densly populated Ruhr area, Wuppertal is an industrial centre and home to over 350.000 people. Its suspended monorail has become the city's widely recognised landmark, and world-renowned choreographer Pina Bausch has established the Tanztheater Wuppertal as one of the most famous centres of modern dance.
