The capital of the Canton of Lucerne is located on the shore of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) within sight of Mount Pilatus and Rigi in the Swiss Alps and is traditionally considered first and foremost a tourist destination. The city's history reaches back into the 8th century and modern culture is catered for via the Culture and Convention Center KKL or alternative venues like the Boa.
