Back in 1999 Munich's Zombie Nation scored a monumental hit with 'Kernkraft 400'. Backed by DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolos imprint, the track's combination of a fiendishly catchy synth hook and a pumping techno beat epitomized the fledgling electroclash movement. The track managed to reach number 2 in the UK singles charts and was to be the start of a productive solo career of Zombie Nation's main man Florian Senfter.
Not only did he continue Zombie Nation by himself - production partner Dr. Mooner had left the project after the first album - he also managed to score numerous hits under his John Starlight alias, such as 2008's 'Road Rage, which appeared on Sven Vaeth's Cocoon label. Now in 2011 Zombie Nation returns with 'Chickflick', a new single on Senfter's own UKW Records label that stays true to the project's slightly unsettling rave theme and features remixes by Boris Dlugosch and current hotshot Siriusmo. In addition 'Kernkraft 400' has been once again released as a single this week, and after 12 years the track has certainly lived up to its creators' project name in terms of unkillability.
