It's been four years since Trentemøller's hugely successful album debut 'The Last Resort'. Since its release the Danish star producer has been increasingly playing the game by his own rules. 'Into The Great Wide Yonder', his second full-length, completes the journey set in motion with 'The Last Resort' - a departure from Trentemøller's techno roots towards a free-form sound aesthetic, informed by psychedelic rock, folk pop and electronica in equal measure.
The album's title doubtlessly refers to Trentemøller's liberation from the stylistic limitations of club music, and as such it is an indisputable triumph. Tracks like the opening 'The Mash And The Fury' and 'Häxan' contrast dubbed-out electronica sounds with heavy tremolo guitars that wouldn't sound out of place in the score of a Tarantino movie. 'Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!!' is an obvious tribute to Suicide's hypnotic wave rock, and densely atmospheric songs like '... Even Though You're With Another Girl' or the album's single 'Sycamore Feeling' pay homage to 70s psychedelic pop.

For the visual aspects of 'Into The Great Wide Yonder' Trentemøller has collaborated with multidisciplinary artist and fashion designer Hendrik Vibskov, who not only designed the album's cover art, but is also directing Trentemøller's spectacular live shows and sometimes joins his band as a drummer. Further included on the album is the video to 'Sycamore Feeling', which has been directed by acclaimed Danish artist Jesper Just and shot on lush 35mm film.
