 TECHNO HOUSE EXCLUSIVES

Maxi-Single released 08-03-2011 on Historia y Violencia
Fifth release on Santiago Salazar and Silent Servant's Historia Y Violencia imprint, and it's yet another stunner: Side A sees Raíz remix Roque Hernandez's 'Izalco' for a minimalistic chord-driven dub-techno workout, while Salazar's own 'Retiro' is equally reduced, albeit with a more dreamy Detroit vibe. zero" exclusive!
EP released 10-03-2011 on Shaddock
Two well known producers preferring anonymity for the debut release of new imprint, Shaddock. 'Let The Acid Out' is a great shuffling house cut with a twitchy synth line, with Vienna's Tin Man unleashing its acid flavours. 'Dreams of Love and Dreams' is classic 909-driven piano house, remade by Spain's Isis. Killer!
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Clone Royal Oak
After Space Dimension Controller Clone's Royal Oak imprint breaks yet another promising young talent: Sweden's Genius Of Time, whose 'Drifting Back' EP strikes a fine balance between filtered Detroit deepness and Nu Yorican Soul flavours. Perfect, timeless house music for KDJ and Masters At Work fans.
EP released 01-03-2011 on Sounding Functions
Peter Clamat aka Niels Hofheinz gets international with this supple grooving house number on Sounding Functions. 'Hello Wien' winds voluptuous synth curves around a nifty shuffle and 'French Connection' keeps the motion flowing with melodic bells circling. Nice.
EP released 04-03-2011 on Temp-Records
Huseyin Evirgen applies his restrained and spacious techno aesthetics to three tracks for Vienna's Temp-Records imprint: the sub-bass-heavy 'Totem 1', the dub-techno flavoured 'Totem 2', and the slightly more playful and melodic 'Cruel'. London's Planet Mu artist Subeena on remix duties!
 MORE TECHNO HOUSE ESSENTIALS

Maxi-Single released 11-03-2011 on Just Another Beat
Prostitune's 'Money Nugget' even made it onto Sven Vaeth's Sound Of The Season mix in 2009, and its follow-up 'Justfixit' is bound to repeat its success: Finely shuffled, pounding deep house with an amazing, funked-up bassline setting in at 1:50 that's bound to knock you out of your shoes. Hit material!
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Dial
Finally following up Efdemin's mighty 'Chicago' album of last year, the first part of remixes lands. First up DJ Koze sharpens the edges and adds some bass weight to 'There Will Be Singing', then a brilliant Portable remix adds warm house quirks to 'Nighttrain' concluding with Efdemin's own dub. Ace.
Compilation released 04-03-2011 on Systematic
Giant package marking Marc Romboy and Stephan Bodzin's collaborative efforts since 2005. The first eleven tracks are the ace production duo's own, followed by a mighty 80-minute mix and an immense set of remixes from Moritz Von Oswald, Brendon Moeller & Robag Wruhme to name a few. Huge.
EP released 08-03-2011 on !K7
Preceeding the head-to-head mix of the two leading American house duos, !K7 release the exclusive tracks as a taster. The sultry funk of a cross-collaboration with Soul Clap's Charles Levine and Wolf+Lamb's Gadi Mizrahi and Deniz Kurtel, Tanner Ross and Slow Hands all featuring. Very delicious!
Compilation released 28-02-2011 on EPM Music
Run by Oliver Way of Detroit Grand Pubahs fame, Dutch music company EPM celebrates its 10th anniversary with a compilation of 10 exclusive and unreleased tracks by artists like Robert Hood, Sandwell District, Marco Passarani, Orlando Voorn, Alexander Robotnick, and Mark Broom. Don't sleep on this one!
EP released 08-03-2011 on Rush Hour
A three-track sampler off his upcoming second album sees Tom Trago sealed into a more soulful journey. The sweet pop vocal of 'Being With You' breezes along over gently warbling synths, 'Space Balloon' spirals off cosmically and Chicago veteran Tyree Cooper features in the deep 'What You Do'. Top.
EP released 04-03-2011 on Poker Flat Recordings
Three cuts of stylish techno house from Germany's Roland Appel. 'Fleurs Du Mal' has a sombre haughtiness, interjected with gripping bells, 'Black Leather' strays a little deeper still maintaining a dark edge and 'Rosario' sees dark chord stabs emerging from a sturdy piano motif. Smooth moves.
Album released 08-03-2011 on Rush Hour
Full length debut of this promising young UK producer sets the scene bringing together lush sweeping synth scapes and deep funking beats. Arising somewhere out of Detroit-indebted UK electronica, he fuses diverse influences with a raw and refreshing playfulness. A very impressive effort, don't miss!
EP released 07-03-2011 on Ostgut Ton
First full EP on Ostgut from Berghain resident Norman Nodge shows a reduced and contemplative side. Eerie strings wind over sparse synth blips and a slim shuffle in 'The Happenstance', 'Body To Body' is a straighter cavernous counterpart and 'Breakdown' a lush freestyling percussive workout. Excellent.
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Cocoon Recordings
Two complementary artists split this latest single on Cocoon. A slick cut from Italy's Ilario Alicante sees him pumping a minimal flex with delicate melodic touches in 'Balance' whilst the youANDme duo of Martin Müller and Daniel Ströter make darker, rattling percussive moves in 'Raw' on the flip.
EP released 08-03-2011 on Turbo Recordings
Finnish technoist Jori Hulkkonen shares his S.W.O.T analysis of his own career in this fine EP in four parts. The driving melodic swells of 'Strengths' are complemented by the ambient wash of 'Weaknesses', in turn snapped into place by 'Opportunities' and smacked into oblivion with 'Threats'. Great stuff.
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Applied Rhythmic Technology (ART)
Two veterans of soulful UK techno team up for 'Promenade Eleven', a string-heavy epic of UR-style hi-tech-jazz, which is treated to two more reduced and functional remixes by The Third Man and Kirk Degiorgio himself. Recommended.
EP released 08-03-2011 on New Kanada
Tolga Fidan's unique productions are all ways something to look forward to, as are New Kanada's releases, and the first team-up of the Parisian producer and Adam Marshall's label couldn't have turned out better: Two cuts of gripping, subtly melodic techno meet two great drumless synth pieces on the flip. Excellent!
EP released 09-03-2011 on Jackoff
The third release on Berlin's freshly founded Jackoff imprint comes from Vidab's Oliver Deutschmann. His 'Waterfalls Are Good' is a sweet up-tempo piece of chord-driven house, turned into a sublime laid-back late-night exercise by Detroit's Patrice Scott. Give this a spin.
Album released 07-03-2011 on Tuning Spork Records
Michal Ho returns with his second album since 2007's 'Screw The Coffeemaker' with an album of his warm and quirky techno house designed to keep dancefloors moving. With appearances by Berlin-based Cesare vs. Disorder and Mexico's Luis Mexin, it's a fine album of unexpected twists and turns.
EP released 07-03-2011 on Circus Company
After Moon Harbour and New Kanada Alexis Benard a.k.a. Seuil adds yet another fine label to his extensive discography. His debut EP Circus Company debut certainly highlights the French producer's strengths: Four cuts of idiosyncratic, slightly quirky house music, with a deep and edgy touch. Nice!
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Simple
Will Saul's Simple Records reaches its fiftieth release triumphantly with four new tracks with long term production partner Tam Cooper. Pristine deep house tracks in the first part get ace remixes by Art Department and Sideshow, with Wolf & Lamb enchanting the soul factor in the latter half. Lush.
EP released 01-03-2011 on Frozen Border
The next slice of premium techno from Frozen Border lands with its seventh anonymous and lethal release. Side A is a mean, dry thumper which develops with restraint over dark chord stabs, whilst Side B favours minimal seedy bleeps and bassy pulses in serious style. Another epic episode in the series, highly recommended!
EP released 01-03-2011 on Rush Hour
Detroit duo The Oliverwho Factory continues pursuing its gutsy house music style following up last years outing on Planet E with 'Galactic Transit'. Solidly grounded by a slamming Carl Craig style beat, seductive chords are echoed in a disco-esque vocal hook until funky synths break out half-way into the track. Hit!
EP released 07-03-2011 on Sahko Recordings
Four essential Mika Vainio cuts from 1998 see their long overdue digital release. This is classic Pan_sonic-style material, with glistening sine wave arpeggios over radically reduced techno and electro-inspired beats. Completely hypnotic and devastating on proper sound systems.
Album released 01-03-2011 on Rush Hour
Merwyn Sanders and Eric Lewis recorded hundreds of tracks between 1984 and 1990, but none of this material ever saw the light of day - until now. Rush Hour presents 16 tracks from the vaults of the legendary duo, all freshly mastered and utterly essential for the discerning house music fan.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on Smallville
Lawrence taking it deep: 'Just Like Heaven' revolves around a distant piano phrase, carried by a subtle bass line, an open hi-hat house groove and transparent wild pitch strings. 'Sorry Sun' evolves from abstract synth bleeps, stacking up layers of warm, drifting pads. Perfectly reduced and fragile. Fantastic EP.
Album released 28-02-2011 on Cadenza Records
Third album from Berlin-based Daniel Gardner sees his unique melodic dancefloor energy showing a maturer turn from 2007's 'Midnight Black Indulgence'. Luxuriously curved exotic tones and bouncing padded bass are balanced by mellower moments, brilliant as a listening album as well as one for the floor.
EP released 01-03-2011 on Horizontal Ground
The seventh release on Horizontal Ground comes from Birmingham's DJ Skirt. The title track is a beautifully sculpted slice of experimental techno, feeding off a haunting drone throughout, whilst 'Ikaros' pulses with subtle industrialism and the beatless 'Six Hours' is a spine-chilling end. Brilliantly intense.
EP released 07-03-2011 on Versatile Records
The immaculately produced electropop project of singer-songstress Lisa Li-Lund and DJ Gilb'R of Versatile Records gets some interesting dancefloor-ready remixes. 'Arrows' receives a sparkling disco polish from DFA's Juan McLean whilst Berlin's Argy transforms it into a dark techno stomper. Recommended.
EP released 08-03-2011 on Thoughtless Music
Ultra-minimalistic Berlin techno this time from Thoughless Music, with Tonepushers' 'Praxic' and 'Apraxic' both riding monumental bass waves and adding inventive elements of minimal funk. 'Tremolo' is a more percussive jacker, while Lukas Greenberg's remix of 'Praxic' stands out with a lush house vibe. Nice one.
Maxi-Single released 07-03-2011 on Musique Risquée
Deadbeat's former Crackhouse partner Stephen Beaupré is back: 'Gl'amour's use of children choirs might seem a bit silly, but the funky and emotional minimal-house-pop of 'When You Have It' is right up our alley. Recommended.
Featuring:
Lucy, Efdemin, Romboy vs. Bodzin
