Redshape surfacing on Running Back might come as a surprise to some, yet the masked techno avenger's analogue hypnotism turns out to be a perfect match for Gerd Janson's revivalist imprint. Two percussive synth jams plus a raw and jacking bonus beat.

DJ Mix by Aroy Dee
Right in time for the weekend we are happy to present this week's zero" podcast and it is one of our finest so far, coming from Dutch techno stalwart Aroy Dee. In loose association with the Delsin camp Aroy has been running his MOS imprint for many years now, holding up the flag for deep and raw Detroit-style techno on the Dutch west coast. Artists who have appeared on MOS include Morphosis, Legowelt, Gerd, D'Marc Cantu, yet Aroy Dee himself has been...

The masked techno hero returns with a single on his own Present imprint. Title track 'In Trust We Space' is given a laid-back feel by a bleeping sine wave hook and an airy, percussion groove, while 'Laser!' increases the intensity with its drilling bass and wildpitch flavour. Quality, as always.

Masked technoist Redshape is back on Delsin with three fantasy-rich, loosely swung electronic jams. 'Future Shock' setting twisted space synths off with a slinky tribal groove, 'Kung Fu' a playful, sample-hazy trip and 'Manhattan' a machine funkin' bouncer. Dashing.

If it had become a bit quiet around masked techno avenger lately, here's why: Redshape's long-due debut album combines eight of the finest tracks we have heard from the man yet, carefully balanced between the slow meandering techno we know and love and a few surprises thrown in. Epic.

DJ Mix by Patrick Pulsinger
© by zero''
For over 15 years Patrick Pulsinger has been doing things his own way. From free-jazz experiments to producing pop acts, Pulsinger has never been taking the easy route throughout his career. Neither has he made it easy for his fans to love all his diverse productions in equal measure, but entirely worthwhile for those broad-minded enough. Pulsinger has started his career in the early 1990s, recording harsh abstract techno for labels like New York's...
