This week's podcast comes from Gregor Ladenhauf, better known as Zanshin, and as one half of Viennese house duo Ogris Debris.
Those who only know Ladenhauf from cheeky club hits like 'Raid The Itch' and 'Salty Womb' or his club-rocking stage appearances with partner Daniel Kohlmeigner might expect a similar style of minimal house music from his solo productions. His Zanshin project is however firmly dedicated to broken beat electronica, perfectly evident on his debut EP for Vienna's red-hot Affine Records label, 'The Humdrum Conundrum EP'. On the EP Zanshin combines influences from Warp-style electronica with elements of dubstep and a solid dose of catchy melodies. There's even an excursion into warm, droning ambient, 'Solrenichi', and a voice-boxed breakbeat song, 'A Flock Of Locks'. |

In his zero" podcast mix Zanshin shows off the versatility of his EP across the 18 tracks of his one-hour mix: Cutting edge dubstep from artists like 2562, LV and Addison Groove meets classic electronica from Autechre, Beige and Mokira as well as techno by the likes of Sleeparchive and John Tejada - and of course a healthy dose of Zanshin's own productions. |
