Our podcast this week takes us around the globe (at least from where we are standing) to Mexico City, home to Valeria Rueda and Jeronimo Puenta, better known as formidable techno duo Signal Deluxe.

Both Valeria and Jerga have been active in Mexico's techno scene for many years before starting to work together as Signal Deluxe in 2005. From there things picked up fast with a continuous stream of releases appearing on international labels such as Revolver, Trenton Records, Persona, Pantamuzik, Thoughtless Records, and most recently [a]ppendics.shuffle's Adjunct imprint.

In 2008 the pair has started their own label, Blaq Records, to showcase the work of local Mexican producers alongside music by international artists like Itzone, Reynold, and Jeff Bennett.

The style of Signal Deluxe's tracks ranges from minimalistic, yet emotional house music to cool, bleepy techno and has made their music a favourite with countless DJs and prominent remixers such as Mathias Schaffhäuser, Stephen Beaupré, and Franco Cangelli.
Signal Deluxe's zero" podcast surprises with a focus on deep and innovative broken beat flavours however: Starting out with Monolake's 'Null Pointer' and Tom Thiel's 'Pulse' they progress through wonky breakbeats by 1000names and Blue Daisy, funky new school electro by Maxmilion Dunbar, as well as Brian Cares & Raz Ohara's cosmic techno folk favourite '40 Degrees'. Subtle!
