Stockholm might be known the world over as the epicentre of Scandinavian pop music, from ABBA to the A*Teens, but our City Focus on the Swedish capital is bound to reveal quite a different side of the city's bustling music scene.

With Axel Boman and Harald Björk we talk to two rising stars in Swedish electronic music, who readily share their inside knowledge on their home town's club and music culture.

Our podcast this week is also going to dispel another popular misconception about Stockholm - that hard, remorseless techno is the only popular form of electronic music in Sweden.

Around a decade ago, the hard-hitting productions of artists like Adam Beyer might have brought Stockholm to the attention of techno fans worldwide, but while this particular style of techno is still widely popular today, it is by no means the only form of underground dance music coming out of the Swedish capital.

Quite on the contrary, the breadth and scope of Stockholm's musical output rivals that of any other European capital - from the fragile electronica of Mokira and The Field, to Hakan Lidbo's anarchic free-style sounds, and the fun-loving electro-pop of Hugg & Pepp (a.k.a. cousins John and Jesper Dahlbäck).

Our two interview partners this month, are perfect examples for Stockholm's musical diversity: Axel Boman has been honing his skills for years with releases on local label Ourvision and contributions to Moodmusic and Gigolo. It was his single 'Holy Love' on DJ Koze's Pampa label however, that made the young producer one of the most talked-about artists of 2010.

Harald Björk meanwhile stepped into the limelight with his much acclaimed single 'Brus', released in 2007 on Cologne's Traum Schallplatten label. Björk has been doing his own thing ever since, starting up his own label, Kranglan Broadcast, for his unique brand of melodic, electronica-infused techno, most recently showcased on his debut album, 'Bigfield'.

The zero" City Focus podcasts are created by Sebastian Schlachter-Delgado, one of Austria's best known music radio journalists and one of the people behind FM4's popular Friday night electronic music show 'La Boum Deluxe'. Schlachter-Delgado is further part of Vienna's electro-pop group Twinnie and has recently started the labels Kinderkreuzzug and Vienna Wildstyle.
