Featured DJ in our podcast this week is Philogresz, or Ilker Soylu to his mum, known from his releases of minimalistic, yet sensual techno-house on Team Records and Ware.
Born in Turkey's metropolis Istanbul at the beginning of the 80s, Philogresz moved to the Netherlands in the summer of 2002 to start his education in music production at the Art Academy of Utrecht (HKU). Philogresz became part of the Dutch electronic music scene as a DJ, promoter, and producer for local labels such as Manual Music and Sound Architecture. In 2009 Philogresz signed to Mathias Schaffhäuser's prestigious Ware label with his 'Milestone EP'. His home town, Istanbul, has remained a strong focal point for Philogresz over all these years however: Once a month he travels there as a resident DJ in the city's hip Otto club. |

In his zero" podcast mix Philogresz presents a summery selection of club music, ranging from deep house and electro tunes to jazzy minimalism. Starting with Fairmont's recent electronica-techno favourite 'Velora', he works his way through soulful slammers by 6th Borough Project or Art Department until arriving at Robag Wruhme's piano gem, 'Tulpa Ovi, off his recent album. |
