Travis Stewart, an innovator in the NY underground for at least a decade, releases his latest album on Planet Mu. Masterfully hybridizing his hip-hop roots with r'n'b and juke influences providing for trippy free-flowing jams, capturing the kicking energy of his live shows. Wicked.

Planet Mu takes us on another Chicago street sounds excursion: Established players like Spinn, Rashad, Earl and T-Why as well as fresh new talents contribute 26 tracks in all, comprised of some the maddest high-speed juke and footworx tracks we've heard so far. Banging.

The devilish footwurk duties of the Ghettoteknitianz crew appear in full force on Planet Mu. Rashad & Gant-Man's anthemic 'Heaven Sent' on a dizzy gleeful juke skip, Traxman's 'We Are Da Best' devastating multi-stable vox over jelly synths and stumblin' cuts by younger producers Manny & Earl. Next level!

Since his 'Soft Vision' EP wowed last year, Chris Ward's debut album has more of a live rock feel, with soupy synths and soft vocals keeping emotions high. Diverse influences from psych rock, 70s jazz fusion, chillwave, 80s synthpop make a strongly immersive, lush album. Recommended.

An original Chicago talent, Chrissy Murderbot, presents his highest-profile project to date after years of pushing the city's homegrown party sound: his debut album 'Women's Studies'. Planet Mu has been keen to push Juke/Footwork and leaves it to Murderbot to showcase their hyperactive, bass-heavy rhythms!

Fine EP from Planet Mu's experimental pop hopefuls Tropics: 'Mouves' is a nicely swinging piece that brings together jazzy piano riffs and drum breaks with echoing vocals à la Animal Collective. Newcomers Keep Shelly In Athens supply a nice synthetic witch house take, and Falty DL's gently shuffling mix is quality as always.
