Clocking in at over five hours of music, Matthew Hawtin's project is impressive for its scope alone: 'Once Again, Again' is a tribute to the lost art of the chill-out room DJ, compiling a wealth of ambient classics, from Pete Namlook to Mixmaster Morris' Irresistible Force and Mark Pritchard's brilliant Link project.
Matthew Hawtin has accompanied his brother Richie's career since its very beginnings, when the two brothers explored Detroit's club scene together from near-by Windsor. While Richie became interested in DJing and producing music, Matthew took to the visual arts, developing a distinct style influenced by the reductive methods of electronic music.

Compilation released 31-03-2010 on Plus 8
'Once Again, Again' is Matthew's first musical project for his brother's Plus 8 label, which has a long history of releasing ambient music. Reminiscent of the times when every self-respecting club had a chill-out area, where Mixmaster Morris played the newest tunes from R&S, Apollo or Rising High to exhausted ravers, 'Once Again, Again' selects some of the finest tracks of the era.

Quite a few actually, since in addition to 22 single tracks the compilation includes two separate mixes, the 'Extended Version' of which is 3:20hrs long. The mixes have been recorded entirely from the original vinyl with additional mastering by Tim Xavier, so no crackles and pops should distract from the spaced-out listening pleasure.
