The weltschmerz is spreading in Rotterdam's electronic music scene. Frustrated Funk, the label that has brought us the depro disco sounds of The Hasbeens, has launched yet another despairingly titled imprint: Harbour City Sorrow.

Run by Clone's Klen, the label premiered its first release last December, the single 'Until Now' by veteran Dutch production unit Duplex. Its combination of epic deep techno vibes with cold mechanical electro funk seemed programmatic for the label, which has announced future releases to come from artists like Ovatow, XDB, Paul du Lac, and Convextion / ERP.

For its second release Harbour City Sorrow has set its sight on another seaport town: Seattle, city of residence of Chris Roman a.k.a. 214 ('Twofourteen'). The Florida-born producer had previously recorded for Andrea Parker's Touchin' Bass imprint, Seattle's Car Crash Set, as well as an album for Frankfurt's currently dormant Mikrolux imprint in 2004.

His zero" exclusive three-track EP 'Drift Diving' combines the digital aesthetics of bit-crushed beats with deep, Detroit-style pads and funked-up electro basslines, leaving us yearning for more gloomy Harbour City Sorrow sounds.
Maxi-Single released 22-02-2011 on Harbour City Sorrow
For its second release Rotterdam's Harbour City Sorrow signs Seattle-based electro producer Chris Roman a.k.a. 214, whose 'Drift Diving' consists of two deep and spacious electro tracks as well as the ambient 'Porour Surfs'. Recommended.
Maxi-Single released 21-12-2010 on Harbour City Sorrow
Rotterdam based techno-heroes Duplex return with two serious late-night driving tracks on Frustrated Funk offshoot Harbour City Sorrow. 'Until Now' floats and punches with hazy iridescent synths on an 11-minute journey whilst 'Memory Lane' shifts and tingles, modestly leaking machine funk. Killer!
