ESSENTIAL OSTGUT TON ALBUMS ON SALE

With his Wax and Equalized series firmly established as DJ favourites, Shed dedicates his sophomore artist album to the abstraction of modern club music sounds. Techno, dubstep, ambient, and old-school jungle breaks are cast together into 14 sparse and atmospheric tracks. Class.

Surprisingly varied from Ben Klock, mixing the forth edition of the Berghain series. Those hungry for sweaty darkroom techno have to wait for quite a bit as Klock skilfully mixes his way through exclusives from Martyn, Levon Vincent, and even by pop duo Junior Boys, albeit remixed by Marcel Dettmann. Brilliant!

Marcel Dettmann's long awaited début album finally sees the light of day. The minimalistically titled 'Dettmann' is almost entirely constructed from reduced percussive loops, which radiate the primeval energy regularly felt between Berghain's booming speakers. Essential!

When Ostgut Ton commissioned Hotflush's Scuba to create a mix for the quarterly dubstep showcase, SUB:STANCE, the task was to recreate the vibe of one of Berghain's signature nights. Scuba has obliged this task with a AAA-class mix feat. Joker, Joy Orbison, Pangaea, and Scuba himself.

One of our favourite Ostgut residents mixes the second volume of Panorama Bar music. As could be expected, the track selection is spot-on and Tama Sumo's subtle mixing leaves enough room to let the records speak for themselves, among those exclusive by Levon Vincent and Basic Soul Unit.

'Temporary Suspension' celebrates the return of Luke Slater's Planetary Assault Systems guise with ten pounding techno tracks, that alternate between punishingly heavy industrial slammers, and jacking old-school flavours.
As the first full-length artist album from any of the resident DJs of Berlin institution Berghain, Ben Klock has delivered an amazing album that's indelibly stamped with the club's trademark sound and offers a worthwhile journey through several flavours of techno.
Shed's debut full-length 'Shedding The Past' is both a milestone for Ostgut Ton as well as for the prolific Hardwax artist. Ten tracks fathom the depths between techno and dubstep on a stylistically cohesive, unique sounding and highly accomplished artist album. Classic.
Inspired by the godfathers of Chicago house, Prosumer & Murat Tepeli deliver an album that puts soul before special effects and essence before décor. Reductionist it may be, but 'Serenity' is an album of pure, personal, and heartfelt - and ultimately timeless - house music.

MORE OSTGUT TON ESSENTIALS
Marcel Fengler returns to his home imprint Ostgut after his recent outing on Mote Evolver, 'Thwack'. His 'Enigma EP' is an altogether more organic affair, working with jazz references on the hypnotic 'Rapture', and underpinning the title track with a deep wild-pitch vibe. Excellent material.
Long-standing Ostgut resident Andy Baumecker teams up with Sam 'Voltek' Barker. The title track wraps a shifting chord layer around an equally unsteady bassdrum to great effect. 'The Hole' is straighter Berghain techno, and 'Refugee Hipster' features Jimmy Edgar for a slight dubsteppy touch. Excellent.
Berghain-regular/close associate Luke Slater returns to Ostgut Ton under one of his numerous pseudonyms, L.B. Dub Corp. 'Take It Down (In Dub)' drenches the listener in noise and ambience, while the flip 'It's What You Feel' slowly builds tension with its thin high-pitched strings and sparse arrangement.
Argentinian techno hotshot Jonas Kopp and New York's Brendon Moeller share the third volume of exclusives taken from Ben Klock's recent Berghain mix. Kopps' 'Michigan Lake' is subtle dub techno on top of a massive bassdrum, while Klock himself strips down Moeller's 'Dirt' for an extra edge. Perfect.
Complementing this month's excellent 'Berghain 04' mix from Ben Klock, Ostgut Ton serves up a split release from Martyn (3024) and Roman Lindau (Fachwerk). Martyn's brooding contribution 'Miniluv' is backed by Lindau's warehouse monster 'Keppra'. Killer tracks.
Tama Sumo's second collaboration with Prosumer is once again an intriguingly analogue and lo-fi affair, which substitutes sophistication with a huge portion of jacking soul. New Planet E artist The Oliverwho Factory contributes a fine remix of the title track as well. Bang those toms.
Five years after kick-starting the Ostgut Ton label, André Galluzzi returns with this 2 track foray into cutting-edge hypnotic territories alongside Dana Ruh. Switching between DJ tool and extended moments of elation, both tracks come highly recommended!
The Ostgut label's main man, My My's Nick Höppner strikes again with an EP of excellent bleepy house tracks, the most floor-friendly of which, the bumping and grinding title track, receives a remix treatment by his My My collaborator Lee Jones. Recommended.
A remix EP announcing Marcel Dettmann's forthcoming album on Ostgut in April. Acclaimed producer Norman Nodge and newcomer Wincent Kunth deliver four interpretations of Dettmann's originals in a powerful deep techno vein. Raw, pumping and excellent!
A recent addition to Ostgut's artist roster, Klakson's Steffi debuts on the label with her 'Kill Me EP', a sweet old-school inspired house track, featuring the vocal talents of frequent Prosumer collaborator Elif Biçer.
Two mind-blowing remixes for Luke Slater's Planetary Assault Systems album, courtesy of Al Tourettes & Appleblim, who deliver a slightly broken version of 'X Speaks To X', and Deuce (a.k.a. Dettmann and Shed) contributing a stumbling, minimalistic take on 'Hold It'.
Levon Vincent leads this split EP with his 'Late Night Jam', a stunning combo of rough minimalistic chord-house and ultra-heavy reverb sections. Steffi's contribution is a bit tamer, yet '24 Hours' is a nicely grooving late-night house piece that sticks in your mind.
The first part of exclusives for Tama Sumo's Panorama Bar mix has Toronto's Basic Soul Unit back to back with Dublin's Lerosa. Stuart Li's 'Things Pass' is a classic, analogue old-school jacker, while Lerosa's Plesso is an elegantly arranged, deep and bassy house piece. Excellent.
An excellent EP by Marcel Fengler, which starts out with the titular minimalistic chord-jacker, followed by the deeper and dubbier 'Gridlock'. For electro fans it's all about closer 'Chi Twine' however, which was one of the finest electro tracks of 2009!
An all-star cast remixes tracks off Ben Klock's 'One' album. Robert Hood, Sandwell District, and Kenny Larkin apply their signature styles to Klock's source material: Uptempo minimal jack by Hood, deep and dubby sounds from the Sandwell boys, organic techno by Larkin. Killer.
Marcel Dettmann and Shed team up as Deuce, and their eponymous EP is quite what you would expect from the prominent team-up. Dettmann contributes his dry and industrial grooves, while Shed injects a bit of organic funk into the mix. Excellent.
A DJ's companion to Len Faki's Berghain 03 mix, Edit Select's curiously titled 'Bauer' is all bass-drum and a static string note, while Faki's own 'BX 3' is a mercilessly pumping techno slammer with broad echo washes. What Berghain truly sounds like.
Ostgut Ton's impresario Nick Höppner delivers this solo single, consisting of the percussive tech-house groover 'Makeover', and the more electronic and trancey 'Foundling', which is a timeless after-hours favourite to many.
Surgeon and Martyn re-interpret tracks from 'Shedding The Past', Surgeon with a pounding and hissing take on 'The Lower Upside Down', and Martyn with his '313' version of 'Another Wedged Chicken', which has long become a classic of the dubstep / techno crossover.
Classic release by My My, the sadly disbanded production unit of Nick Höppner and Lee Jones, whose 'Southbound is a subtle an elegantly grooving house track, while 'Pink Flamingos' puts on a deep and laid back vibe. Perfect.
Âme's only release for Ostgut, but what a big one it is. 'Fiori's original mix crosses over synthetic krautrock and techno in a way only the duo from Karlsruhe can pull it of, while the track's 'Club Mix' is a spiralling 16-minute monster. Epic.
'Mekong Delta's memorable synth line provided Ostgut Ton with one of its early hits, but the single's A-side, 'Rainbow Delta', is still a highly playable track of dreamy, yet energic deep techno. Classic.
One of Marcel Dettmann's earliest solo releases introduced the world to the Hardwax man's unique sound, a dry and stoic form of techno that gave a new and experimental meaning to the notion of minimalism in techno music. Beautiful artwork two.
Ostgut Ton's vinyl debut had Marcel Dettmann team up with Ben Klock for quite a perfect label launch. 'Dawning' is a moody techno affair of bleepy arpeggios and washed out chords. Backed by the crisp and bouncy (and brilliantly titled) 'Dead Man Watches The Clock'.
