Hello,

February is rumoured to be the year's shortest month, but looking at the past weeks' shocking amount of great releases we are not sure we can confirm this.

Massive artists albums by Agoria, James Blake, Isolée, Siriusmo, Nicolas Jaar, Steffi, Tim Hecker, Toro Y Moi, and Moritz Von Oswald Trio were complemented by brilliant singles from Marcel Dettmann, Portable, Shackleton, Bibio, as well as newcomers like Bucharest's Aeromaschine and Bristol's Kahn, to single out but a few.

Enjoy!
 FEATURED RELEASE

Album released 31-01-2011 on Infiné
Few artists are blessed with the boldness and ability to fluently switch between dancefloor techno, downbeat pop, and neo-classical compositions within the course of a single album. Agoria brings plenty of both qualities to the table, and across his prolific output the French producer has consistently been pushing the envelope of contemporary electronic music.

'Impermanence' is Agoria's fourth album, the first for his own Infiné label, which has served as another vehicle for promoting his broad-minded musical approach over the years with artists like Francesco Tristano and Danton Eeprom.

Agoria's previous albums featured collaborators as prominent as Tricky, Ann Saunderson, Princess Superstar, and Bauhaus' Peter Murphy, and 'Impermanence' continues this tradition. Once again a number of guest artists bring Agoria's vision of dramatic electronic music to life, from American singer Kid A, who opens up the album with the elegiac piano / cello ballad 'Kiss My Soul', to Carl Craig, who contributes vocals to the album's sensual techno hit, 'Speechless'.

Further guest stars include Seth Troxler and French singer Scalde, while Agoria's forays into the neo-classical domain, 'Simon' and 'Under The River' provide tranquil counterpoints to the melodic techno of tracks like 'Panta Rei' and 'Grande Torino'. 'Impermanence' is a great album despite and because of its versatility, and its creator has to be applauded for boldly injecting a sense of drama into electronic music that is so often sadly amiss.
 TECHNO / HOUSE ESSENTIALS

Album released 04-02-2011 on Pampa Records
One of Germany's most acclaimed minimal house producers Isolée returns with his third full-length album since 2005's brilliant 'We Are Monster'. Isolée boldly freestyles, drifts and lovingly detunes, achieving an excellently executed balance between bedroom and dancefloor. Luscious.
Album released 28-02-2011 on Cadenza Records
Third album from Berlin-based Daniel Gardner sees his unique melodic dancefloor energy showing a maturer turn from 2007's 'Midnight Black Indulgence'. Luxuriously curved exotic tones and bouncing padded bass are balanced by mellower moments, brilliant as a listening album as well as one for the floor.
Album released 25-02-2011 on Robsoul
It's a timeless vision of house music that Phil Weeks and his Robsoul label have been following over the past years, and 'Love Affair' is yet another highpoint for both, blending house and soul influences from all ages with Weeks' unmistakably slamming beats. Recommended.

Faithfully capturing the powerful groove of his esteemed DJ-sets, the mix features some classics like Roger Sanchez alongside newer cuts from DJ Sneak and several re-edits by Carter himself. Bang on!
Album released 07-02-2011 on Ostgut Ton
Panorama Bar resident Steffi utilizes her many years of house expertise in her debut album, following on from her recent stream of Dolly releases as label head. From beginning to end, her timeless soulful house embraces sounding like the most blissful Panorama Bar emotions condensed into an album. Ace.
Compilation released 28-02-2011 on mobilee records
Mobilee continues its Back To Back with an impressive double volume by Marcin Czubala, who not only selects his current faves from the label's catalogue, but also presents an entire album's worth of exclusive material on the second part of this selection. Huge!
Album released 23-02-2011 on Minus
Comprised of 15 lengthy tracks and a full album mix, Marco Carola's new album is certainly a weighty package. Fans of the Italian techno ambassador will likely succumb to the album's largely percussive charm and comply with its creator's advice to 'Play It Loud!'.
Compilation released 14-02-2011 on Get Physical Music
Get Physical's 7th collection of club-ready tracks to work out to brings together up-and-comers, old friends, debutantes and intriguing collaborations. Highlights include the wildpitch bass wobble of Javier Logares' 'Proyecto Lazer' as well as tracks by Smash TV, Jona, Someone Else and more.
Chaim - Alive
Album released 11-02-2011 on BPitch Control
After a wealth of singles 'Alive' is Chaim Avital's first album, and the Israeli producer does a perfect job of tuning his sound to the full-length format: 12 tracks of techno and pop-induced house music with plenty of lush vocals, catchy hooks, and subtle mood swings to keep you listening. Highly recommended!
Album released 07-02-2011 on Art Of Vengeance
A remastered version of Aril Brikha's remarkable debut album demonstrates the admirable timeless quality of his productions ten years on. Alongside the original tracks, the release includes ten unreleased tracks recorded between 1995-99, which includes plentiful gems, 'Fuknit' and 'Us' amongst them. Staggering.
Album released 21-02-2011 on It's
Former indie-pop keyboarder Richard von der Schulenburg (Die Sterne) has been busying himself with recording deep experimental house music for his label It's as of late. 'Moments' is his debut album as RVDS - eight wonderful tracks of mellow synthscapes and laid-back jacks. Highly recommended.
Album released 04-02-2011 on Shitkatapult
Divulging from his more abstract experimentalism, Frank Bretschneider's latest album on Shitkatapult treads a straighter techno, named after his 'Komet' moniker. Opening with a deliriously droney track, Bretschneider continues with pulsating, finely sculpted techno to great effect. Excellent.
EP released 09-02-2011 on Kontra-Musik
The first volume in a three-part series of Mokira reworks has Marcel Dettmann step to the plate with two strikingly good pieces of abstract techno. 'Factory Report I' is a drifting and rather playful dub, while 'Factory Report II' showcases the kind of austere deepness we love Dettmann for. Great.
Maxi-Single released 23-02-2011 on Delsin Records
Announcing the impending arrival of Mike Dehnert's new album for Delsin, 'Before Framework' compiles three subtle dub-techno workouts by the Berlin-based producer. Minimalistic and gritty percussions add up to subliminally shuffling grooves that will work their magic on properly dimensioned speakers. Ace.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on Karat records
Two years after his last EP for the label, Alan Abrahams returns to Karat with 'Let's Go'. Clocking in at over 11 minutes 'Inside Your Mind' starts out as minimalistic chord-based track before evolving into a vocal-heavy techno anthem. Backed by the equally epic 'The Ghetto Escapes' this is yet another brilliant Portable outing. Killer.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on CLR
Two massive cuts of uncompromising, industrial techno by Tommy Four Seven: 'Armed 3' punctures its grungy stop-and-go beat with explosive stabs and ominous sirens sounding from a distance. 'Ratu' relies on a similar apocalyptic aesthetic, yet employs a slightly more pressing groove. Killer tracks.
Album released 21-02-2011 on Crème Organization
Crème Organization presents a long overdue compilation of Rude 66's early (and long deleted) works for Acid Planet and Djax. Taking cues from electro and IDM 'Two Worlds' is 11 cuts of rough and gritty The Hague warehouse acid and a must for all Bunker and Unit Moebius fans.
EP released 22-02-2011 on Innervisions
Spiralling analogue synths and long, peaking arrangements are Lil Tony's trademark, and 'Anton's Groove' is a prime example of his style. Split in two parts totalling over 17 minutes it's a truly hypnotic journey, while the EP's eponymous 'Nudge' is a more reflective wild pitch affair. Unique and recommended.
Maxi-Single released 21-02-2011 on Ostgut Ton
Not only has Spectral Sound A&R Ryan Elliott moved to Berlin recently, he also joined the Ostgut camp for the release of his debut EP, 'Rocksteady'. Two cuts of house-induced techno with a pleasantly deep low end and classic techno chords working their timeless magic.
EP released 25-02-2011 on Baalsaal Records
Baalsaal goes deep with bright new talent Aeromaschine, a.k.a. Bucharest's Alin Crihan. Five moody and Detroit-inspired dub house cuts are complemented by an excellent Bearweasel remix. Each track's a winner on this one, making this EP one of our surprise favourites of the month. Don't miss.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on Bosconi Records
Marcello Napoletano's low-fi house is always something special and this new EP for Bosconi is no exception: 'Noise Is The Cure' sounds like Ron Trent fed into various distortion and anti-quantization devices, while his two I.F.M collaborations strike a deep, respectively slightly hysteric note. Unique!
Maxi-Single released 22-02-2011 on Crosstown Rebels
Turkish-born and NYC-based all-round artist Deniz Kurtel drops her second outing via Crosstown Rebels. 'The L Word' is a slick piece of vocal house that's guaranteed to win her many fans on contemporary club floors. Comes with a slightly more pumping Guy Gerber remix.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on Running Back
More Passarani on Running Back with the second volume of 'Colliding Stars'. 'White Dwarf' is a slow-grooving piece of acid house, remade as the percussive 'Black Dwarf'. It's the eponymous 'Colliding Stars Pt. 2' however that pushes our buttons with euphoric Detroit strings and a massive breakdown. Recommended.
Maxi-Single released 07-02-2011 on Deeply Rooted House
Ben Klock's 'Tracks from 07' see a digital release and they are still as good as in 2010, 2007, or whenever. 'Viscoplastic's stoic, Robert Hood-style bounce is contrasted by the mercilessly, grinding 'Red Alert', which calls classic Joey Beltram to mind. Essential, timeless techno tracks.
Maxi-Single released 21-02-2011 on One Track Records
John Daly's One Track Records continues with its winning DJ-friendly format. The track 'Tonight' is a vibrant majestic journey of heartfelt deep house, where subdued strings are balanced with a jacking Chicago groove. This is followed by a sparser hollowed-out dub and a sparkling reprise. Highly recommended.
Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on M>O>S (Delsin)
Known from his releases on Crème Organization D'Marc Cantu joins M>O>S for 'Set Free' and 'Tonight', two techno jams that unite Delsin-style deepness with the analogue immediacy of frequent collaborator James T. Cotton. Recommended.
Maxi-Single released 21-02-2011 on Versatile Records
A single track release from the ever-innovative Chateau Flight duo (I:Cube and DJ Gilb'R) of Paris' admirable Versatile Records. A humourously bent take on electrified techno with ecstatic whizzes building up solidly around caved-in timpanis and a gritty synth bassline. A tense drama fit for a film-soundtrack. Mighty!
EP released 27-02-2011 on Freerange Records
Manuel Tur's latest single captures the essence of 1990s club music with massive Kevin Saunderson style chords and classic house vocals by singer Holly Backler. A profession of love to the days of Inner City, and perhaps less voluntarily, acts like Robin S., and Snap. Fine release.
Maxi-Single released 14-02-2011 on Cocoon Recordings
With his ace remix of Butch's 2010 hit 'No Worries' still getting its fair share of airplay, Daniel Stefanik continues in his usual prolific fashion. 'The Silicon Garden' and 'The Harlequin In Me' provide plenty of warm bass for the dancefloor whilst 'Dirty Rhodes' flows with sparkling arpeggios. Sweet.
EP released 21-02-2011 on Synewave
Second set of remixes for Damon Wild's techno classic 'Avion', this time by Orland Voorn with a surprisingly hard-hitting interpretation, and Pacou, who brings out the 808 for his classy remix. Also featuring are new Synewave artists such as Steve Lorenz and Conde Cero. Quality techno throughout.
Maxi-Single released 25-02-2011 on BPitch Control
Extended versions of Ellen Allien's 'The Kiss' and Sascha Funke's 'Hiddensee', as well as an exclusive Ellen Allien remix of Moderat's 'Seamonkey' make this a must for all BPitch Control fans. Comes with a nice video for Allien's 'The Kiss' as an added bonus.
Maxi-Single released 14-02-2011 on mobilee records
London's up and coming Maya Jane Coles joins the Mobilee camp with her fusion of classic house vibes and modern minimalism. 'Beat Faster' is a smooth and vibrating organ house track, complemented by the bleepy 'Perfect Imperfections' and the deep and grooving 'Play The Game'. Impressive EP.
Maxi-Single released 21-02-2011 on Digitalo Enterprises
Another Skatebård EP, hot on the heels of his recent 'Donko Donko'. This time Bergen's finest is on a techno tip, with the Detroit-inspired sounds of the title track meeting 'Plastic Dreams' style chords on 'The Party Trap'. Fine remixes by homeboys Velferd and Sferro as well.
 DUBSTEP / HIP HOP / 2STEP ESSENTIALS

Maxi-Single released 18-02-2011 on Honest Jon's Records
Taking 'Deadman' from his highly-acclaimed Fabric mix, Shackleton's hissing and sizzling percussive finery is twice reworked by Kevin Martin. The King Midas Sound remix imbues a beautiful desolate atmosphere with Hitomi's vocals, whilst The Bug's version fixes further beat abstractions to it. Very fine.
EP released 18-02-2011 on Honest Jon's Records
One of two new Shackleton treats to emerge on Honest Jon's this week, 'Fireworks' features this new track as well as a brilliant trippy remix by T++, a resurrected version of 'Deadman' named 'Undeadman' and a hypnotic Baron Mordant remix thereof. Shackleton on truly top form, with stunning collaborations!
Maxi-Single released 04-02-2011 on 50 Weapons
Cranking out his very fine harder techno style again, Cosmin TRG's latest EP divulges from his recent housier outings on Rush Hour. The dry, quaking big room techno with muddy undercurrents of 'Separat' is counter-balanced by the wickedly spiked-synth punisher 'Izolat'. Excellent.
Maxi-Single released 27-02-2011 on Kapsize
While Joker prepares his major label debut, Swedish dubstep duo L-Wiz step in to deliver some anthemic, neon-tinged future r'n'b for Joker's Kapsize imprint. Not quite on par with Joker's finest moments for the label, but certainly a well executed and thoroughly recommendable surrogate.
EP released 02-02-2011 on All City
The first part of All City's new 'Collabs' series has technostep master Martyn side with hip-hop experimentalist Mike Slott. 'All Nights' is a killer house track with a percussive dupstep groove beneath its Shed-style chords, which his followed by 'Pointing Fingers', a playfully abstract downbeat exercise in a FlyLo vein.
EP released 14-02-2011 on Ghostly International
Napalm Death/Godflesh/Techno Animal veteran Justin K Broadrick returns with a new Pale Sketcher EP on Ghostly, taking his sound from euphoric drone dubstep to reflective, guitar-plucking downbeat electronica across four tracks and a spine-chilling, earth-shaking King Midas Sound remix. Weighty!
Maxi-Single released 14-02-2011 on Ramp Recordings
Killer new track from New York's FaltyDL with gut-bending multi-directional rhythms under unforgettable aching vocal hooks in deadly combo, building on the darn brilliant 'Phreqaflex' EP from last year. Jamie XX does a fine job on the remix, adding dynamic drops and a fruity bassline. Massive!
EP released 14-02-2011 on Numbers
After their debut release on Hyperdub last year North London production duo Ill Blu head for Numbers this time around with their 'Meltdown EP': Three tracks of hard-hitting funky house, combining Kwaito-inspired percussions with ravesignals and chipsounds abound. Heavy!
Maxi-Single released 14-02-2011 on R&S Records
The jittering electro-workout of 'OFI' from the reformed Model 500 late last year is given contrasting remixes from two young UK talents. First up hip-hop experimentalist Bullion turns the original into a comic-strip Dilla-esque explosion, before cosmonaut SDC steers it smoothly towards planet funk. Ace.
Maxi-Single released 24-02-2011 on Musik Aus Strom
Former Funkstörung collaborator Taprikk Sweezee delivers four sweet cuts of glitched-up future r'n'b that highlights his soothing singing voice along with glistening edits and soulful vibes. Great release, not only for Funkstörung die-hards.
Album released 08-02-2011 on Ghostly International
Shigeto's glistening fantasy-rich debut album gets a thorough remix treatment. Mike Slott's is smooth and flowing with iridescent atmospherics, Samiyam cranks up the slo-funk factor while Take, Om Unit and Charles Trees provide excellent unhurried spins on Shigeto's original visions. Sweet!
Maxi-Single released 11-02-2011 on Tectonic
Illum Sphere lands on Tectonic with a bang: 'Dreamstealin' could be a piece of grain-synthesised neo-classical music, if it wasn't for the junglistic dubstep beats that convert to hip-hop breaks after the break. Backed by the wonky 'Blood Music' and an Indigo remix. Unique and recommended!
 ELECTRONICA / AMBIENT ESSENTIALS

Maxi-Single released 28-02-2011 on Warp Records
Whetting our appetites for Bibio's forthcoming album, 'Mind Bokeh', 'Excuses' is a glitched-up, bitter-sweet downbeat song that doesn't let its processed vocals and grungy, stumbling beat get in the way of conveying heart-felt melancholy. Nice twist towards abstract hip-hop at 2:35 too!
Album released 14-02-2011 on kranky
Releasing this album 'Ravedeath, 1972' on Valentine's Day, enigmatic drone specialist Tim Hecker's uncanny knack for expressing contradictions in his music seems all the more poignant. Beauty in noise and serenity in chaos, a breathtaking album from a veritable master. Highly recommended.
Album released 04-02-2011 on Sonic Pieces
Intense collaboration between Rutger Zuyderveldt and Gareth Davis following on from last year's gorgeous 'Drape' release. In two fifteen minute tracks, they unfold incredible intriguing atmospheres. Interplaying otherworldly drones and Davis' haunting clarinet, it's another staggeringly beautiful release.
Album released 18-02-2011 on AGF Producktion
A riveting rendition of AGF's theatrical collaboration with acclaimed film composer Craig Armstrong, a modern intepretation of Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel Orlando. Field recordings, cello and AGF's hushed poetic voice are gracefully processed with electronics, resulting in a challenging and inspiring journey.
COH - IIRON
Album released 14-02-2011 on Editions Mego
The ever-uncomprimising Ivan Pavlov returns, this time confronting guitars as his album 'IRON' did eleven years ago. Using recordings from his days in the USSR where consuming "metal music" was forbidden, his electronic-rock hybrid is brimming with a magnificent raw energy found seldom these days. Immense.
Album released 14-02-2011 on Type
Six years since their influential album 'Pale Ravine' emerged, Erik K Skodvin and Otto Totland return as Deaf Center with this full-length on Type. Layered strings webbed amongst piano melodies, engrossing drones and delicate textures, a spine-tingling epic adventure from beginning to end. Exquisite.
Album released 01-02-2011 on 12K
German sound artist Stephan Mathieu uses classical gramophone records as the basis of his album for 12k, 'A Static Place'. Re-recording the sound off the original equipment and transforming it with his computer, the result is an inherently beautiful album of soft and gentle tones. Recommended.
Album released 18-02-2011 on Staubgold
An excellent collection of seemingly disparate tracks by the always adventurous Staubgold label, 'Transparent Roads' features at times reflective, at times wild post-rock by the likes of David Grubbs, The Necks, and perhaps most notably Mira Calix, who contributes two lovely ambient compositions.
Album released 23-02-2011 on Bunker
Bunker presents the first in an ambitious three part album series by German underground electro heroes The Exaltics, who put a distinct spin on the Drexciya / Dopplereffekt style across the album's nine tracks. Well composed and impeccably produced this is a must for all fans of subaquatic electro.
Maxi-Single released 22-02-2011 on Harbour City Sorrow
For its second release Rotterdam's Harbour City Sorrow signs Seattle-based electro producer Chris Roman a.k.a. 214, whose 'Drift Diving' consists of two deep and spacious electro tracks as well as the ambient 'Porour Surfs'. Recommended.
ALTERNATIVE / POP / DISCO ESSENTIALS

Album released 25-02-2011 on Monkeytown Records
There's hardly a musical genre that Siriusmo hasn't studied, chopped up, and integrated into his very personal pastiche puzzle of an album. His highly anticipated full-length debut 'Mosaik' is just what you'd expect from the man: a firework of creative ideas, hugely entertaining and highly recommended.
Album released 21-02-2011 on Circus Company
Highly anticipated debut album from this unique young talent certainly doesn't disappoint. Delicately carved textures burying instruments within fibrous warmth, balancing melodies and sonic experiments and grooving at its own pace. An effortlessly heavenly album and highly recommended!

L.A. husband-and-wife duo release their second album, this time on Cologne's Kompakt label. Blending their diverse world-music influences with electropop in an endearingly erractic manner with Tiffany Preston's vocals reverberating valiantly throughout. Brilliantly produced and a delightful album.
Album released 29-01-2007 on Tri Angle
Those keen ears at Tri Angle Records re-release How To Dress Well aka Tom Krell's debut from last year, giving it a much deserved wider audience. Singing out r'n'b essences with his own falsetto vocals, the album is steeped in melancholic grainy emotions and wholly endearing lo-fi naivety. Brilliant.
Maxi-Single released 27-02-2011 on Wall of Sound
Norway's electronic pop dons Röyksopp follow up last years 'Senior' album with their latest single 'Forsaken Cowboy', channelling psychedelic country folk vibes in the title track, while exploring a more epic, Jean Michael Jarre style synth-pop mood on the appropriately named 'Keyboard Milk'.
