FaltyDL takes it into more synthetic territory for his debut on Rush Hour. Everybody into the more unusual type of house/dubstep hybrids should check this EP. Reminiscent of Martyn's lower paced house tracks and even of some of the old Clear records, this is another excellent release for FaltyDL!

The Shape Of Breaks To Come: An Interview with FaltyDL by gl03
New York's Drew Lustman has won over countless fans last year, mixing up abstract hip-hop, UK garage, and Rephlex-style electronica in his productions for Planet Mu and Ramp Recordings. Right in time for the release of his new EP we conduct a brief Q&A session with the man known to most as FaltyDL.

On rare occasions barriers of time, space and musical cultures seem to melt down, condense and solidify into something new and outrageous at the hands of a gifted individual. Take the example of Drew Lustman, whose recordings as FaltyDL have been among the most hyped of the year 2009.

Growing up in New Haven, Connecticut, didn't exactly predestine Lustman to a career of chopping up all dance music genres ever conceived on the British Isles, adding a large dose of sample-based hip-hop and coming up with a unique musical recipe of his own.

Yet this is precisely what he ended up doing, and while his prior experience as a sushi cook and jazz bassist might have helped a bit in the process, the general public had been left largely unprepared for the firework of fresh ideas that was 'Love Is Liability' - his debut album that used UK garage breaks, dubstep bass and dreamy Ceephax synths to conjure up mid-90s rave moods with modern means.
FaltyDL
FaltyDL is New York City's Drew Lustman, whose hotly tipped productions merge 90s UK rave aesthetics with a wide range of contemporary influences, ranging from garage to dubstep, dancehall and wonky hip-hop. So far his releases have appeared on British labels Ramp Recordings and industry stalwart Planet Mu.
Welcome, FaltyDL!

Club Transmediale 2010: A Guide to CTM.10 by zero"
Berlin's unique festival for 'adventurous music and related visual arts' opens its doors tomorrow. We have assembled a small guide to the festival's many highlights.

Club Transmediale is famous for its diverse line-up, dedicating the different nights of the festival to specific genres or topics. With 'Overlap' being the motto of this years 11th edition, the breadth and scope of musical styles on display is as dazzling as ever, ranging from experimental noise and neo-classic to broken beats and disco-pop.

'Overlap' further not only stands for the cross-overs in music itself, but also for the presence of music in other media forms, be it theatre, film, contemporary dance, or video games. CTM.10 dedicates lectures, screenings and performances to each of these areas during the course of its 10 day programme

With such an exhaustive schedule and the all-new festival locations it's all to easy to miss something: to aid you in your festival planning for the next 10 days, we have compiled this small guide containing definite must-sees, insider tips and some of our personal favourites.
