Hello,

As dubstep is coming of age, we are getting ready for the next wave: producers that combine influences from a variety of genres with the once revolutionary half-step breaks of dubstep. Be it the drum'n bass and electro allusions of dBridge and Instra:mental, the stumbling downbeat of Illum Sphere, or the riff-heavy, mutated G-Funk of Planet Mu artist Slugabed and Kuedo, 2010 has been a big year for the new sound so far.

 FEATURED RELEASE

Compilation released 15-02-2010 on Fabric Worldwide
The 50th edition of Fabric's acclaimed Fabriclive series, dBridge and Instra:mental's mix is a land-mark release more than worthy of the round catalogue number. With their Autonomic podcast the London based trio has recently taken the web by storm, fluently crossing over styles ranging from electro-funk and hip-hop to dubstep and abstract electronica.

Their 'Autonomic' Fabric mix condenses the genre-binding concept of their ridiculously popular podcasts in 73 awestruck minutes, laying out the blueprint for a distinct style of their own, both coherent and diverse.

Autonomic shifts seamlessly between the breakneck speeds of drum'n bass and dubstep's half-step, picking up the pace at just the right moments, while leaving plenty of space for more introspective tracks and even some genuine pop moments, such as Riya's lovely r'n'b style opening track 'Seems Like', forthcoming on dBridge's own label Exit Records.

Besides plenty of dBridge and Instra:mental's own material, the mix features productions by cutting-edge artists of the moment, such as Scuba, Distance or Actress. For anyone interested in new sounds, Autonomic is as contemporary as it can get.
 MORE UK BASS ESSENTIALS

Album released 15-02-2010 on Fat City
Illum Sphere has been on quite a hot streak as of late, being selected to the Red Bull Music Academy, remixing Martyn, on top of promoting Manchester's hottest club nights, Hoya:Hoya. His biggest moment to date approaches with the two-part album, 'Long Live The Plan': Six amazing tracks of futuristic dub-breaks.
EP released 08-02-2010 on A Made Up Sound
The Hague's techno-meets-dubstep pioneer Dave Huismans a.k.a. 2562 returns to his own imprint as A Made Up Sound: 'Sun Touch' and 'Drain' are excellent futuristic dubstep efforts - sparse, deep, and drone-drenched - while the third track, 'Untitled', shuffles it up Detroit-style. Perfect.
Maxi-Single released 15-02-2010 on Ramp Recordings
San Francisco based producer Dave Aju steps in for a remix duty of Cloud's 'Timekeeper' track. Everybody familiar with Dave's productions on Circus Company will soon find out that he is approaching this from a new angle here, delivering a finely chopped up wonky house hybrid. Ace!
EP released 08-02-2010 on Civil Music
One of our favourite bass artists of the moment - check out our recent interview - Débruit has created his unique breaks from Haitian music for this EP, the proceedings of which will go in full to the UNICEF earthquake relief effort. Help Haiti and get some great tunes in return.
EP released 09-02-2010 on Mad Decent
Everybody knows Diplo's Mad Decent is all about rocking the party. London's L-Wis 1990 produced the label's biggest party-smasher of 2009, 'United Groove'. The label saw fit to commission a panel of experts to create larger than life reworks of the B-more bass anthem, including Cosmin TRG, MJ Cole, and Buraka Som Sistema.
Maxi-Single released 29-01-2010 on Tectonic
Distance gives the re-rub for Pinch's 'One Blood, One Source' taken from his genre-defining, future classic album 'Underwater Dancehall'. Live drums set an easy pace over a thick subbass, while Rudy Lee's gentle vocals complete a proper dub atmosphere. 'Clockwork' is a different flex that demonstrates Distance's knack for delivering the heaviest cuts around.
Compilation released 25-01-2010 on Ostgut Ton
When Ostgut Ton commissioned Hotflush's Scuba to create a mix for the quarterly dubstep showcase, SUB:STANCE, the task was to recreate the vibe of one of Berghain's signature nights. Scuba has obliged this task with a AAA-class mix feat. Joker, Joy Orbison, Pangaea, and Scuba himself.
Compilation released 18-01-2010 on Fabric Worldwide
Being more than just a collection of tracks 'Elevator Music' presents the most prevalent dubstep artists, for example Martyn, Untold, Starkey and many more. Ranging from playful tracks like 'The Moth' by Julien Bashmore to spheric compositions by Om Unit the compilation has one least common denominator: BASS. The perfect shot for UK-influenced listeners, and those who want to stay up-to-date!
Compilation released 11-01-2010 on Fabric Worldwide
Martyn compiles the 50th edition of Fabric's official mix series and proceeds to take it to a new direction. The Dutch producer flawlessly blends multiple tempos and styles resulting in Fabric's most refreshing mix to date. Feat. tracks by Actress, Roska, Zomby, 2562, Kode9, and more!
